Cinematic Era: 1915 Vintage

First episode in the Lady Baffles and Detective Duck one-reel comedy series. The city is being terrorized by a mysterious female Raffles. At last, in desperation, the chief of police sends for his friend, the famous sleuth, Detective Duck. While these two are sitting in conference, Raffles, in her search for loot, enters the home of Mrs. Gotta Millun. Raffles' eyes sparkle as she takes in with delight the rich Oriental knick-knacks and furnishings. Mrs. Millun is a connoisseur. Raffles hides under a table when Mrs. Millun comes in. Mrs. Millun has just received a gift from her brother in far-off India. It is a jewel case containing eight beautiful and rare pearls as large as hen eggs. In a note accompanying them her brother explains that the jewels were part of the loot of the Britishers when they raided Oski Wow Wow, and that they were taken from a famous Indian Princess who had sworn eternal vengeance on all who thereafter possessed them.

When a dying patient gives him a statue of an Indian god, the doctor John Schmidt thinks nothing of it. He barely gets home before mysterious things start happening. A knight’s armour comes to life, a servant gets ambushed, and Schmidt’s wife disappears without a trace! The secret Indian society is behind it and will do everything to get hold of the statue. Wealthy George Hunter struggles to maintain his social-climbing wife and daughters' expensive lifestyle. After his, investments crash, he faces financial ruin and seeks help from a wealthy aunt, leading to various complications.

Broncho Billy, in a quarrel with Faro Dan, a card sharp, shoots him and flees. Pursued, he hides in the wagon of a man whom he meets on the prairie. The posse is misled by Broncho Billy's friend and the fugitive escapes. Several years later Broncho is made sheriff of an adjoining county.

Betty Brown is an egregious coquette and flirt. She fools a pair of lovers, and her indecision lands her in a pretty mess at a Hartford hotel, where she is cajoled into passing herself off as the wife of a man whose real wife is on her way to meet him. Betty just butts into a sea of trouble, for the man and his wife are to receive some money from the former's uncle on condition that the wife meets with his approval. The general mix-up at the hotel caused by the meeting there of all these opposing interests is the cause of a great deal of fun and confusion, the central figure of which is always Little Miss Betty Brown.

Sweedie while reading a book in the kitchen, falls asleep. She dreams that Kao Yama, Sultan of Puff Puff, has sent her a present in the form of a servant. She refuses to accept the slave, telling the Sultan's messengers that her husband would seriously object to having him around the house.

Gypsy Willie Buckland recalls to his friend why he and his wife return each year to that same spot to hear the chimes in the village church. In his youth he and little gypsy maid Jane were friends and sweethearts. When Willie’s father died, he went to the city where he met "The Painted Woman," spending his last cent on her, but they had genuinely fallen in love and he promises to stay with the woman, who is fatally ill, until she dies. Penniless and ill, he wanders out into the street and thence to the meadows, where he is found by Jane and nursed back to health. Fearing his love may not be true, she tells him that if he finds her wherever she may wander, one year from that date, that she will believe him and marry him. A long weary year passes when he arrives in that very village just as the chimes are ringing, and there he finds Jane. His story finished, Buckland points to Jane and their children with a happy smile.

A masked girl sits in a store window in New York, writing cards to demonstrate a fountain pen. Everybody is curious about her because she is so pretty, and she becomes nicknamed "the Angel in the Mask." A certain boy from the country, Bob Singleton, chances to pass the window. He is forlorn because he cannot get work. The masked girl holds up a card, on which is written a word of friendly encouragement. At the boarding-house where the boy is staying a robbery and murder are committed, incriminating evidence is found in Singleton's room, and he is taken to prison.

Rupert returns to his Canadian home after five years, an officer of the Royal Mounted Police, under orders to capture some illicit distillers. Jacques, an invalid, being unable to make farming pay, has, unknown to his sister, Philomel, been induced by Antoine, a suitor for the hand of Philomel, to join him in the illicit whiskey traffic.

James Sterling, wealthy bachelor, is told by his doctor that he must go up into the mountains if he would recover the health lost in his midnight parties. He goes, leaving behind Clarice Driscoll, a society girl whom he loves. In the mountains he meets Lucy Bingham. Away from the city influences, he falls in love with this maid of the wilds

King Ambrose chooses a queen from among the maidens of his kingdom. After they are married, Robin, a young man the queen had known earlier, attempts to steal her from her royal husband. Robin shoots arrows with notes attached and the queen initially runs away with him. The queen, however, rejects her former suitor in favor of the king after Ambrose saves her from a snake. Her rejected suitor plots with the jester to bomb the palace but their plot backfires.

A doppelganger comedy made at the height of Asta Nielsen's fame in which she plays dual roles. This film is considered lost.

Nell, the marshal's daughter, and Frank Ketchell, the young bank cashier, are sweethearts. The romance has progressed through years, and has reached the stage where Frank has purchased a diamond solitaire which he plans to place on Nell's finger that night. James Whitmore arrives in town, representing himself as a Secret Service man. He tells Marshal Bertram that he needs his assistance in locating a gang of counterfeiters who have flooded the country with spurious coin. Nell and Whitmore meet and the girl becomes infatuated with the affable stranger. Acting on Whitmore's suggestion, Bertram secures all the money from the local bank through Frank, takes it to his office for Whitmore to examine for counterfeit. Meanwhile Bertram confesses to Frank that it is he himself who is the counterfeiter, explaining that he transgressed the law in days gone by that he might send his daughter Nell through college.

Wandering minstrel Louis d’Angelo must flee his homeland to America after a duel over the hand of his beloved, Delicia. Finding hardship and deceit at first, he eventually also finds success. Because another suitor, Colonel Navarro, has been intercepting his letters Delicia fears Louis has forsaken her and journeys to America to discover the truth followed by her parents and Navarro. By chance all gather at the same restaurant and the lovers are reunited.

Three brothers: Bob, Will and Charlie, all are in love with Mae. Bob, the eldest, is sullen and revengeful, and Mae is afraid of him. Will, the middle brother, is a happy-go-lucky boy with whom she falls in love, and Charlie, the youngest, sacrifices his own feelings for Will, who loves Charlie devotedly. Will and Mae are engaged. During his absence in the city, where he is trying to get a hold in business, so that he and Mae can marry, Bob makes violent love to his brother's fiancée. Charlie comes to her rescue. Learning of the episode, Will later has word sent home that he is dead, and Mae marries Charlie. Some time after this, Will cannot resist coming home to see his mother and Charlie, though he intends that Mae shall not know of his return. Before he can slip away, however, an incident occurs in which he is called upon to save Charlie's life. His presence and his heroism become known to Mae. The inference is that she had a good deal of a struggle to overcome vain regrets.

An hotel bellboy, a telephone operator, a travelling salesman and a thief are absorbed by "The Grouch Chaser", a book containing animated cartoon. A few cartoons are interspersed with adventures happening in the hotels' lobby.

Mary, a farmer's daughter in New England. The summer boarders who had been staying at her family's farm have departed, but two of them, Lloyd Norman and his cousin Edgar, remain in Mary's thoughts. Mary is concerned about a promise that was made to her earlier, and awaits a summons that would bring her happiness, but it never arrives.

A press release and a review describe a scene from the film: a skipper refuses to abandon his burning ship, despite his daughter's pleas. In a last-ditch attempt to save her father, the daughter jumps into the water and climbs onto the burning ship.

Colonel Bjelke is disturbed by the fact that his beautiful wife Yelva spends a lot of time with Lt. Sparre. Yelva is planning a visit to the fortune teller to find about her future.

After Outlaw Slippery Joe robs a miner and his daughter, a sheriff pursues him. While on the outlaw’s trail, the sheriff finds the miner's horse, abandoned by the outlaw, and notices the resemblance between Slippery Joe and Mr. Bond, a man he had encountered earlier who was searching for his twin brother. The miner and his daughter arrive at the ranger's cabin, recognizing Bond as the robber.

The movie has been preserved without inscriptions.

A short celebratory film, the only moving images that have ever portrayed the celebrated composer. Giacomo Puccini enjoys his residence in Torre del Lago: he walks in the garden, pinning a fresh rose in his buttonhole. He plays the piano and composes, whizzes by in a motorboat, receives the mail and chats with the villagers, and finally goes duck hunting.

The story of Juanita, Romero, and Pedro, with a central plot revolving around love, betrayal, and revenge. Romero, a wealthy fisherman, loses Juanita to Pedro, an itinerant musician. After being wounded in a duel with Romero, Pedro abandons Juanita, and she eventually returns to Romero, now a water carrier.

Lord Henry's tyrannical ancestor is seen to murder his wife and her faithful dog. The dog later returns to haunt his erstwhile master, involving Sherlock Holmes in the process.

A suffragette protests against marriage by openly living with her lover.

On the day of their marriage, Ruth discovers that her sweetheart, Jasper King, is the proprietor of a gambling establishment. Denouncing the man, Ruth declares that she will not become Jasper's wife until he has given all his ill-gotten wealth to charity. Jasper obeys Ruth's demands.

Mr. Danbury, a theatrical manager, is visited by Ellis Harcourt, who seeks a position with one of Danbury's companies. Danbury tells him that, since he is unknown to him, he must prove his ability to act before being given any encouragement. Danbury takes a vacation, and invites some of his friends to go for a cruise with him on his yacht. One of his guests produces the latest edition of the Animated Grouch Chaser.

Ham fears he has accidentally killed his landlady so he and Bud go on the run, disguised as a missionary and a cannibal.

The film is set in Lodz, under Prussian rule, and abounds in strong topical moments against the background of life in the occupied city.” Other sources reported that the film’s plot was “set against the background of the occupation and destruction of Kalisz by the Germans in 1914.

Ma and Dad, with their two daughters, live in a cottage in a small western town. The sheriff is a friend of the family and a frequent visitor. Tom, the gambler, has tried to force his attention on Madge and Rose. The gambler plays cards in a bar-room with an assayer, and breaks him. Thereupon the assayer decides to end his life, but the gambler advances him some money.

Driven from home because of his father’s temper, 20-year-old Frank Bradbury struggles to control his own strong emotions. When a schoolmate harasses his sweetheart, Rose Claybourne Frank attacks him and is expelled from university. After becoming engaged to Rose they return to his home, seeking his father's consent for their engagement. Their mothers are hopeful for reconciliation, but Frank’s father is enraged. Frank arrives while the father is attacking his mother and Frank kills him with a paper weight. Brought to trial he is acquitted on the grounds of justifiable homicide and Rose and he marry.

In a fight Marguerite's father kills a man and Broncho Billy, the sheriff, goes in search of the slayer. Marguerite successfully hides her father. Broncho Billy, however, waits on the outside. Marguerite, in order to get the sheriff away from the door and allow her father to make his escape, leads Broncho Billy to believe that she has hidden her father in a woodshed. Broncho Billy with drawn revolver rushes into the outer building and Marguerite hastily throws on the lock, making him a prisoner.

Philanthropist attempts to awaken the good side in criminals.

This picture is based on the same story that became D.W. Griffith's Orphans of the Storm in 1921. This version, made by the Fox Studios, stars famous "vamp" actress Theda Bara in the role that Lillian Gish later made famous

Broncho Billy, the sheriff, is in love with a girl, but another man wins her affections and marries her. He is a worthless sort of fellow, and when Broncho sees him in the saloon, drinking with an outlaw, he gives the bartender orders to sell him no more liquor. This causes a fight, but peace is soon restored.

Mark Pelton's young wife, Laura, is a drug addicted kleptomaniac. In her delirium she writes her father, John Calvert, accusing her husband of cruelly wrecking her life, then commits suicide. Calvert, knowing the truth, puts the letter aside. Ten years pass and Calvert hopes his niece Pauline will pair with Mark, but she has fallen under the charms of fortune hunter Elmer Danby and plans to elope with him. When Calvert dies, he leaves his estate jointly to Pauline and Mark, provided they marry. If one refuses, he or she forfeits all to the other. Pauline, having found the letter at first announces her engagement to Danby, forfeiting her rights but when he is exposed as a grabber and she learns the truth about Mark they wed.

"Sure-thing" Steve and his pals searched the map for prospective country towns in which they could bunco the inhabitants. They decided the town of Simpville would fall for a fake auction sale.

A detective proves a girl's father was killed by a mad scientist's winged gorilla.

Dr. Schneider paces restlessly around his practice - hardly any patients come in. He is delighted when the letter carrier finally rings, but he is in perfect health. Then his cook appears with a tiny cut. Instead of a plaster, Schneider applies an oversized bandage and prescribes strict bed rest. Dissatisfied, he goes hunting for sick people on the street and even treats a passer-by until he flees, exasperated. In the end, only his cook is fit and lively at the stove again. A lost film.
