A documentary released in 1985 about the Mothers of Place Vendôme.

The film was shot in the year of the 975th anniversary of Yaroslavl. The painting is based on portraits of Yaroslavl residents from the distant past and Yaroslavl residents of the late twentieth century: workers, restorers, engineers, artists. The frame contains many recognizable places of the city, as well as courtyards, factories, and cultural institutions. This 10-minute film perfectly conveys the atmosphere of life in Yaroslavl in the mid-1980s.

The video starts as a criminal story of one man chasing another, whereby the emphasis is not laid on the final outcome, but on colour surfaces that sneak into the black and white world of industrial plant. Then the colour instantly covers the entire video surface, a naked man's body appears and the camera starts revealing its details. The end of the video presents seemingly frozen bodies that, within the medium of motion pictures, endeavor once again to find the illusion of stillness offered by fine art.

A concerned group collected fifty tons of medical supplies from churches, human and went by ship with the supplies to Nicaragua's East Coast. Once there, they traveled to the interior, where local farmers, doctors and teachers revealed the crucial changes being made by the Sandinistas in health care, education, farming and the treatment of Miskito Indians.

This short documentary film, made by Roy Spence for the Ulster Folk Museum, focuses on the work of master willow-weaver, James Mulholland of Gawley’s Gate, Co. Armagh. The film traces the various stages in the making of a willow log basket from cutting the raw willow rods through to the completed product.

A documentary about the purebred Icelandic horse. All the horses featured in the film come from Kirkjubaer, where some remarkable horse breeding, quite unique in Iceland has been taking place since 1946. The film gives an account of the breeders and their work. The studs are shown in the pasture in different circumstances at all times of the year. Finally, the horses are shown with their riders, both on the race course and in the open, frequently in a magnificent landscape setting.

This composition provides a tribute to the world's most formidable peace activist, Anwar Sadat. The video paints visions of issues concerning Earth's flirtation with the apocalypse. Composed in four movements, featuring images and text interwoven with contemplations for inner and world peace.

In between 1984--1985, Distel worked on Die Reise (The Trip), a stunning train and railroad field recording montage. Location recordings were made in the Zürich-Bern Intercity on a trip he recorded ten times to get the source material. Die Reise starts and is based on the train sound counterpointing with singing CICADAS as well as birds and human voices. It seems the composer is recording the voice of the train to add to the choir of cicadas, birds, hissing electronic sounds and human voices.
