Cinematic Era: 1936 Vintage

A nanny, in order to give in to the invitation of a suitor who proposes a motorboat trip, leaves her child unattended on land. The trip ends in a dramatic dive into the water, and while the two inexperienced navigators are picked up unconscious by some fishermen, a good devil takes the little boy with him, whom he finds abandoned and crying on the shore. However, the disappearance is believed to be the result of a kidnapping and the poor devil, identified, risks going through a bad time if the nanny and her suitor, who have recovered, do not rush to justify him in time. The nanny finds in her marriage to her helmsman the compensation for the dismissal by the child's parents, and the good devil secures an honest job.

Made by the Polish Telegraphic Agency, this reportage shows the construction and operation of the modern cargo port in Gdynia and its facilities. It is a typical example of a propaganda film of the second half of the 1930s, showing the rapid development of the young country and its growing economic power. The film has been digitised based on a copy imported from the Soviet Union in 1980.

This silent b&w film has intertitles in gothic script (in German). The film features cineradiography of x-rays of eating, drinking and digestion. Solid food is consumed sideways on with a good view of the mouth, then the thorax as food and drink pass down to the stomach. Finally stools are seen forming and dropping through the intestines to the colon.

Mercury, the winged messenger, drops his sandals off with a centaur to be repaired. The centaur, who has coveted wings to the extent that he's used a couple ducks to help him fly, takes the sandals for a spin, and fails to finish the repair job on time. Mercury returns; in a panic, the centaur strips the wings from a couple birds and nails them to some plain sandals, but Mercury is not fooled. He turns the centaur into a pretzel.

The picture opens with a deer nursing her fawns. We see a young deer being fed cigarettes; a raccoon picking the pockets of a man for sugar ; a raccoon carefully washing and eating an egg. Then we have the nocturnal kinkajou, and following that an anteater whose specialized tongue makes quick work of a heap of ants. The anteater carries her young whether she is walking or hanging by her prehensile tail. Looking up through a glass, we see a Pacific pocket mouse eating sunflower seeds. A cormorant swallows a large fish. An iguana kills a vulture after shedding its tail which still wiggles like a live snake. The film closes with a dramatic fight between the iguana and a puma

The young doctor is, of course, cleared of any wrongdoing, but the villagers feel betrayed and stop visiting him.
