Cinematic Era: 1936 Vintage

The fourth in a second volume of promotional news real footage produced by Chevrolet. The short touches on a number of subjects in a generally upbeat manner. Included is a firehouse cat named Mickey, a model plane competition, and the Detroit police's unique approach to enforcing traffic laws using a cruiser hooked up to a large speaker on the roof.

Jozef Pilsudski's death was a great event, talked about all over Europe. One of the many films immortalising the Marshal's funeral celebrations in Vilnius is the following report by Stanisław Urbanowicz. The film shows picturesque views of the city, places particularly associated with the figure of Piłsudski, and the funeral procession carrying the urn containing the Marshal's heart to the Ross Cemetery. Unfortunately, the only surviving copy is incomplete: it lacks an ending. The ending was partially reconstructed thanks to excerpts from the working material, without a soundtrack.

A crude countryman sells horses and ,thanks to an old war buddy who has now become a film star, has achieved some renown. Full of himself, he ventures to Paris to see his movie friend, only to experience bitter disappointment.

Hans, Karl and Rudi haven't had much luck in their lives so far. One day, Hans receives a letter from his aunt Gudula. She demands that he reanimate her little theatre "Euterpia" in Büllesheim and threatens to disinherit him if he doesn't manage to outcompete her competitor, Wengen, from the theatre "Thalia". In addition, niece Hilde is sent to Büllesheim to support Hans.

The Fairy of the Phone appears, tiptoeing along the wires between telephone poles, and administers reproofs and advice to all sorts of telephone users, aided by a singing chorus of operators.

Peter Gruber, a young tenor from Vienna, gives piano lessons to Daisy, the daughter of a dentist. They fall in love and when Gruber has to perform in Antwerp, Daisy follows him there. She pretends to be an American musician and manages to get a job with Gruber's orchestra. Daisy's worried father sets off in pursuit of his daughter, accompanied by a certain miss Lola.

A boy who is doing compulsory military service in the navy has a confrontation with a superior over the love of a woman.

WWI thriller set on the Austro-Russian front. A long distance gun wards off an enemy attack, until a traitor among 13 soldiers signals the whereabouts of the battery.

The typical Cinderella storyline: wicked stepmother and stepsisters, and Cinderella can't go to the ball. We see elves and woodland creatures making a dress and a coach out of various woodland materials. A twist: the coach they make then goes though a "modernizer" and comes out as a 1946 Chevy.

Boxer Oswald battles it out in a "boxer vs. wrestler" match at the Punch Bowl Arena with Punchy Pig.

Being with a discussion of Balinese death rites, noting that as Hindus, they need to be burned so their souls can leave them behind; but bonfires are expensive, so they pile the corpses of the poorer citizens in graves until a rich man dies, and then they dig them up and everyone gets cremated.

Made for the Sheffield and District Workers Film Society by Brian Pickersgill, this film documents anti-war protest marches through the streets of Sheffield to Endcliffe Park in 1936. The film concentrates on the Women’s, Youth, and May Day demonstrations held that week.

Most marvel at how close formation fliers go about their maneuvers, but what everyday drivers on the road are required to do are much the same in needing to know where other vehicles on the road within close proximity are. But while a precision flyer knows what his fellow formation fliers beside him are going to do, a driver on the road may not know the driver in the cars close to him, and can only go by the rules of the road to guide him. A driver should try to view his situation much like the flyer from a bird's eye perspective while still paying attention to what he himself is doing. The four vehicle formation that any driver should always be constantly aware of is himself, the vehicle in front of him, the vehicle behind him, and the unknown/unseen vehicle around any corner. Several on road situations and the four vehicles involved are then shown.

The master criminal Ramdas (Sayani Atish) arranges a theatrical performance, supposedly to raise money to aid an ashram for widows, but which in reality is just a ruse to abduct a college girl named Chandrakanta (Husn Banu) who is the daughter or the wealthy Kundanlal Seth (Jijibhai).

Of the nearly 20 sound films produced by Srikrung Sound Film, these fragments of Luead Chaona (Farmer Blood) are the only surviving pieces of early Thai sound cinema. Sri Krung was the first Thai sound film studio that operated in the 1930s. This film also marks the screen debut of Chamras Suwakhon, the most popular Thai sound film actor in the prewar era.

The adventures of a top hat, as it changes hands (or heads) and moves through various levels of society.

Stefan is the son of the owner of a Bavarian steamship concern, which plies the Danube. During a trip to Budapest, he falls in love with the beautiful Etelka, who, unbeknownst to Stefan, is the daughter of his father's Hungarian competitor. By chance, they lose sight of each other; but as Stefan's father enters into negotiations with Etelka's father about a merger of the two companies, the children find each other once again.

"I Love a Parade" includes a montage of military marchers; "Baby Parade" is music and montage without Kaufman's singing although lyrics are superimposed on the screen images of children passing by. Then, it's on to "Presidents on Parade," featuring Washington, Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Wilson, Coolidge, and FDR. Kaufman adds narration to bridge each piece.

In desperation, he runs away to seek his mother at the place where she is repenting. In his escape, he gets lost in the forest and falls into the hands of a giant monkey.

A rare chance to see some of the greatest acts from the Music Hall Years

It's the great documentary of the Ethiopian War. It begins in an original way by dealing with the multifaceted pre-war preparations. The central part of the film illustrates the resolution of logistical problems - first and foremost that of communications. The final part, finally, presents some episodes of the war, which ended victoriously, and some images of plowing the newly conquered lands.

A stranger deposits an egg in a duck's nest; it hatches as a baby chicken. It doesn't fit in well with its three duckling nestmates, particularly when it comes to swimming. Momma tries to solve the swimming problem with a couple of leaves, but sends the chick home when that fails.

Heikinkatu, now Mannerheimintie, was the main traffic artery of Helsinki in the 1930s, "the street that would never be completed". Already in the 1930s, it became clear that Heikinkatu, due to its unfavorable cross-section, was unable to absorb the ever-increasing traffic. The film follows the renovation of Heikinkatu, which was eventually completed, thus providing a major thoroughfare to the capital.
