Barr Messenger escapes to Mexico after a frame-up. He is in love with Betty Brownlee, who disappears after $10,000 is stolen from the firm she works for. It is thought she took the money. In Mexico, In Mexico, Barr finds Betty working in a saloon for "Red" McGee, the chief henchman of "Bull" Keeler's (the Kingfish) Kingfisher gang.

Corporal Jack Borden, of the Northwest Mounted Police, trails the man who killed his partner to New York City. The killer is an unscrupulous promoter who is selling worthless stock in a gold mine. Borden, with the help of Blanche Hall, locates the man in a Bowery dive, but he escapes and Borden tracks him back to Canada. Along the way, he discovers that Blanche and his sweetheart, Milly, are long-separated sisters and brings about a reconciliation.

The film "Fate" was based on the true story of Clara Smith Hamon, who murdered her Oklahoma millionaire oilman boyfriend, Jake Hamon. Clara was acquitted of the charges, began a love affair with John Gorman, the president of Gorman pictures, and starred in the film version of her own story, fulfilling her lifelong dream of being a movie star. A country-wide protest, however, quashed her dreams, and all copies of the film were burned, leaving only a still shot to mark it's former existence.

A portrayal of the conflict between the pioneer cattle ranchers and the newcomer farming homesteaders in the Big Bend region of Texas: The problems for both sides are heightened by cattle rustlers who take advantage of downed fences. While struggling to maintain law and order, Texas Ranger Tom Norton falls in love with New Yorker Eileen Nawn, and the way is cleared for their romance when Tom rounds up the culprits.
