Cinematic Era: 1914 Vintage

Brian Godfrey and Arnold Lambert are clerks in the diamond broker's office, both interested in Mildred St. Pierre, the daughter of an old employee. For a while she is impartial but Arnold is too impetuous in his addresses and she repulses him. Gilbert Howell, a traveling salesman of the firm, puts into the vault a sealed package containing valuable private papers. On the same day is placed in the vault, a number of fine uncut stones in a similar package. When Howard starts on his usual tour, he takes from the vault what he thinks are his papers. That same evening, old St. Pierre, recalling the fact of leaving some very important papers on his desk is worried and decides to make sure by going back to the office alone to place them in the vault.

In a game of cards, Stillwell, a young Southerner, incurs the hatred of Collins, an unscrupulous scoundrel. Seeing a chance for a double revenge, Collins goes to LaVinge, father of Edith, with whom Stillwell is in love, and demands payment of an old gambling debt.

Universal Ike Goes Astray

Young Anthony March, living in London, inherits a considerable amount of money, but his crooked uncle Dr. Manuel Ceneri steals it. When Anthony gets suspicious, Ceneri's partner in crime, Macari, persuades Ceneri to kill him. However, just as they commit the murder a blind man, Gilbert Vaughan, mistakenly enters the house. Anthony's sister Pauline sees the murder, faints and loses her memory. Thinking they have gotten away with the murder, Ceneri and Macari soon find out that they're in for a shock.

A young man who visits a shady bar and gets involved with the criminals there, by a misunderstanding becomes a murder suspect. An older man who regrets his own life choices is willing to sacrifice himself to give the boy a chance, but the real culprit is caught. The young man promises to improve his life.

On her journey, she is waylaid by bandits, and becomes entangled in the political problems of a neighboring country, whose ruler Prince Dantan, has been ousted by his evil half-brother Gabriel. Dantan, disguised as a simple goat hunter, has been driven into hiding in the mountains with his followers. Beverly is rescued by his band of rebels, but is mistaken for Princess Yestive. Beverly and Dantan fall in love, but their romance is complicated, not only by the hostilities between the two countries, but also because neither of them knows the true identity of the other.

Universal Ike Junior in a Battle Royal

Greg Hamilton, a young artist, decides to go east and try his fortune. He finds his work unappreciated, and is unable to earn a living. One day while strolling in the park with his wife, Helen, he saves a little girl's life by stopping her runaway horse, but breaks his finger in doing so. He is then unable to paint, and is forced to take a position in a factory, but tells his wife that he is writing stories for a magazine. A few days later, Helen tells him she has accepted a position as governess. Things go on nicely, but one day they discover they are both employed in the same factory but in different departments.

The Payne family of Lonesomeville set up a Fairy Play, founded upon the story of "The Sleeping Beauty," and Helene Payne secures the wealthy Mrs. Wilson's financial support. She is a lady no longer young, but insists upon playing the ingenue lead. Miss Tibbitts. a mournful old maid, is secured for their "Danseuse." Willey Finley gives out the parts, while Doctor Heffernan is given the directorship.

The mother follows to the parsonage, and then the summer resort, where she overtakes the couple.

Mary Green works in a railroad restaurant. Here she becomes acquainted with a traveling salesman, who misses his train because a group of capitalists get in his way at the ticket window. Going to the telegraph office to send a message, he picks up a telegram left by the capitalists which states that a valuable mine belongs to Mary Green, who does not realize its worth.

Ray Vernon, a hard-working young man who so far has been unable to catch the elusive dollar, is in love with Louise, the daughter of a wealthy broker. Ray is sternly told that when he possesses $5,000 as a start in life, his suit may be considered. Disheartened, Ray starts for town. On the corner adjoining the magnificent mansion of the broker is a vacant lot on which a sign stating that there are no restrictions as to buildings advertises the lot for sale. An idea strikes Ray. Making for the real estate office, he buys an option for thirty days on the lot. He then visits the Italian section and makes a proposition to Pedro, an Italian, to build him a small shack which he can have, providing he and his family will move into it. A few days later the wealthy broker's wife is astonished to see a rough wooden shack erected on the vacant lot, and Pedro and his numerous posterity its inhabitants.

Bessie Morris, a daughter of the rich, has grown tired of the lazy life which she is forced to live and longs to get out in the world and do some good. Her father, who believes in letting his daughter think and decide for herself, suggests that she pay a visit to his old nurse, Widow Hobbs. She is delighted at this suggestion and leaves for the village the following day. Here she meets Samuel Jenkins, a rural lawyer, who pays her great attention. Their friendship finally grows into love and she promises to marry him as soon as he is able to support her. Shortly after she goes back to the city, not revealing to him her wealth or social standing.

Retraces the life of Giuseppi Verdi

Ruth Wilson, daughter of a wealthy landowner, receives a visit from her country sweetheart, Joe Merriam. who is a motorboat enthusiast. Unknown to anyone but her brother Frank, Ruth is an expert at fixing auto and motorboat engines as the estate is on the bay and Ruth has the use of two launches. With Joe she goes for a boat ride but the engine breaks down and he is unable to fix it, and afraid that it would lower his opinion of her if she should repair the engine, she lets him call another boat to tow them back to the wharf. Merriam, while in love with Ruth, cannot bring himself to propose, fearing that she would be too ornamental for a farmer's wife, and half of his visit passes while he attempts to make up his mind.
