For centuries Hmong people have lived in the mountains of China and Southeast Asia. They have in more recent history fled Laos as refugees and resettled in the Americas, Australia, and Europe. This documentary was filmed in Chang Khian, a village in the mountains of Northern Thailand. With the traditional, year-long process of transforming the bark of hemp plants into cloth, the complex relationships of men and women are revealed. Women produce the cloth and clothing as the men perform healing ceremonies, settle marriage agreements, and conduct funeral rights. The ready availability of mass-produced, inexpensive cloth combined with the fact that the cultivation of hemp is now illegal has brought the continuation of this traditional practice into question. This film is of great interest to the study of gender and kinship, textiles, traditional crafts, shamanism, and social change.

Job exams, you'll be fine. Uemura spends August of his senior year at university looking for a job with bleak prospects. At his lodgings, Tajima, a classmate from junior high school, comes to ask to stay with him for a while. In fact, Tajima has a history of assaults in his hometown and has come to Tokyo to do dangerous work. By chance, Uemura learns of Tajima's criminal record and is also concerned about the late-night phone calls he receives. However, there is nothing he can do, and Tajima himself has no way to turn back, and their summer ends with their mutual caring for each other. The story is told in a restrained manner, but the same locations and props, such as the basement of the building, the pottery club room and the curry and rice, are used to show the changes in the situation, and the film's storytelling sense shines through.

With an ice-cream cone, a warm summer. A young man and woman live together. During the hot summer, the man is engaged in manual labour. The woman stays at home and sleeps. The only time she goes out is when she gets a phone call from the man who forgot his lunch. She takes her lunch to the construction site, waits until the work is finished and rides home on the back of her bicycle. The next day she sleeps again, and that's how she lives. One day, the woman wakes up comfortably. When she comes to, she finds an ice cube on her forehead. Her lipstick, which she had been unable to decide on no matter how much she applied, is now perfectly matched. She has a good feeling. Getting up, getting dressed, walking along the dusty road, nibbling on ice cream... The film has a concise and powerful charm that flows throughout, symbolised by the movements of the main female character. After watching the film, you will feel that 'taking a nap is also a way of living straight'.

This is an up-beat and at times humorous glimpse into the thoughts of a group of teenage girls raised by lesbian mothers. It candidly asks questions that the neighbors want to, but never dare. “How do lesbians have sex?” “Does having a lesbian mother turn you into one?” Told through the experience of its eighteen-year-old director, this frank video invites its audience to laugh and, at the same time, to feel comfortable questioning their own sexuality.

Intersections of the autobiographical voice (in the realm of mythic/memory and the personal) co-mingle with the historical, to produce a film that is neither an "official historical document" nor a "personal history." Instead, "Coconut/Cane & Cutlass" is a hybrid fusion of the autobiographical, historical and experiential, in an episodic structure that is richly textured and layered with optically printed imagery, front-screen projection, re-created archival images, oral narratives/histories, a spirit dance, and theatrically stylized dramatic scenes. The poetic, fragmented style and structure of the film represent the exile's internal struggle to "reconstitute" her own sense of self in relation to her history and ancestry.
