The film is based on the impression after reading "la maladie de la mort" by Marguerite Duras, and added to, with other text, pictures and allegories. Through these movies I try to symbolically express the relationship (and lack of understanding) between males and females.

Original hi-8 video to digital, color & b/w, sound, 16 minutes. Persons unknown wait on a street in a large city for something to come their way. The greeting is “are you anywhere?” They float past the infinite set of stairs going nowhere during one day out of several days from 1985 to 1995. Land of Nod is an experimental short documentary shot NTSE in the late eighties and transferred to digital. Nod captures a day of black marketeers in the street waiting for action.

Flesh Colored Crayons was completed in 1992. This film includes an array of animated scenes and sporadic phrases flashing on screen. The scenes are all quite different, beginning with dogs, ducks and people in a park, and continuing with a cowboy placing a revolver in his mouth. One of the longer animated scenes includes an outline of what appears to be Jesus Christ filled in with drawings of a rocket ship, a bull’s eye, Albert Einstein, and more. Some of the phrases that flash throughout the film include: “jogging my memory”, “the year was 1953,” “abort”, and “you can’t dance naked in Indiana”.

"We know the air is filled with vibrations we can't hear. We can't consider environment as an object. We know that it's a process While in the case of the astray, we are indeed dealing with an object. It would be extremely interesting to place it in a little anechoic chamber and listen to it through a suitable sound system. Object would become process; we would discover, thanks to a procedure borrowed from science, the meaning of nature through the music of objects." John Cage

Black Body is a harsh and compelling meditation on the contradictory values assigned to black bodies in American culture: they exist as both desired and feared, abject and powerful. The “black body” is a body whose surface reflects projected fears and repressed desires; as such, it exists as a site of ideological struggle, a surface which is simultaneously eroticized and denegrated. With nightmarish narratives and loaded terms hovering over an image of a naked torso bound with wire, Harris shows how these contradictory values continue to cripple and contort the self-image of blacks. The video conveys a powerful sense of confusion and trauma, the problem of inhabiting a body that is a cultural taboo.

The first in a four-part video art series produced by duo Christiane Dellbrügge and Ralf de Moll in the early-'90s, this piece begins the series' themes of incorporating art theory into video art, particularly through the juxtaposition of words and images. Here, abstracted hands are superimposed over a constantly spinning black-and-white, digitally produced background, signing the "text" of the piece while a distorted voice accompanies it.

‘Once there was a woman who lived alone in a fairly prosperous citadel. If the weather was fine, a rare and precious occurence, she would go out and explore, or she would do the shopping…’ Inspired by the tragedy of Dido and the fall of Carthage, with references to the stoning of Mary Magdalene and the execution of others, The Citadel documents the perceptions, actions and dreams of a woman as she experiences, or rather, doesn’t experience, national and world events. Using a range of stunning imagery within an allegorical structure, The Citadel follows the imaginary journey of a woman through a city of beauty and desolation. Shot in lyrical documentary tradition, akin to the work of Humphrey Jennings, the piece weaves together a subjective narrative with an idiosyncratic vision of London. Paris in the 1880s. The Impressionists dominate the art scene but a brilliant new talent is about to emerge. Georges-Pierre Seurat, artist extraordinaire and father of Pointillism, creates a style so revolutionary that it anticipated, over one hundred years ago, techniques used today in television and digital imagery. Seurat is an animated tribute to this visionary painter.

The disciple of a Chinese master attempts to use what he learned defeat an evil Chinese master after he plots to use his girlfriend's virginal blood to resurrect a demon. With a low budget not affording much in the way of special effects or art direction (it takes place almost entirely outdoors), a cast of no-name actors and a soundtrack filled with stolen popular music from other countries, this 'B' flick is considered low grade in its country of origin.

Over its thirteen year history, Camel Trophy has become the world's greatest amateur adventure expedition, testing both man and machinery to their limits. From dense jungle tracks to flooded savannah plains, Camel Trophy '92 covered some of the most diverse and spectacular scenery in South America. Equipped with identically prepared Land Rover Discoverys, the sixteen amateur teams from four continents set off from Manaus, Brazil on their 1600km journey, covering some of the remotest and formidable territory in the world before reaching their destination of Georgetown, Guyana. Participants soon realise that no one man can hope to achieve this goal alone. Team work, patience and above all, a sense of humour play a vital role if the convoy is to reach its final destination.

The protagonists of this documentary are three Palestinian women in a state of internal exile. Dalal, arrested at sixteen for associating with a terrorist organization, returns home after twelve years in an Israeli prison only to face rejection, both because she adopted a male role and because she is a single woman. Um Muhammad, a peasant living in a refugee camp, places her trust in God alone, while Mary Chass, a Christian from Haifa, moved to Gaza only to find herself and her family were strangers there. The film addresses the notion of the ‘other’ from various perspectives, but privileges the perspective of Palestinian women, removed from the focal point of the Palestinian struggle, isolated behind their veil.
