A documentary about the election campaign and the first free elections in Poland in 1990. The filmmakers look behind the scenes of the political game. They present candidates during meetings with voters, document meetings of election staffs and listen to the ‘voice of the street’.

The heroes of the stories are various small packs of cigarettes that are manufactured in the Soviet Union. They suddenly jumped out of an old suitcase, and now live their lives and show scenes that are typical of those times. Here there is a dance floor, where pairs swirl elegantly, the rest on the beach, and much more.

These three gaijin fakirs ignore the rules and common sense of the world and put on a crazy performance. They are the young people of the end of the century who live in the mood of "the world is going to be all right, it's only a paradise now". They walk to the Kinkakuji Temple, the place of the last banquet, with the unmistakable presence of Japanese young people behind their cheap make-up. Taking photos with junior high school students on a school trip and avoiding real gaijin, their hymn to youth comes to an end... A funny and ultimately sad "true story of stupid people".

Under a sweltering midsummer sky, two boys arrive in their uniforms. "I want to play baseball! But what awaits them is a completely empty field. A suspicious caretaker appears and tells them that the ground for the game has been changed, and invites them to go somewhere else. The unintelligible and absurd conversations between the protagonists and the labyrinthine countryside make you laugh. It is as if they have been thrown into a dream, and the mysterious world that unfolds on the screen will surely awaken in the audience nostalgia for summer that has been lying dormant in the depths of their hearts.

Saiga brushes his teeth with purified water and rubs the bench with alcohol before he sits down. Saiga, an extremely fastidious man, is the number one salesman of condoms. But in reality, he is a rebel who denies the existence of human beings and challenges God to stop the birth of more "life". But selling condoms is not enough to stop the population from growing. He becomes impatient and finally decides on a new strategy: indiscriminate murder. The film is a well-constructed hellscape that draws you in, and the Jack Nicholson-like protagonist dominates the screen with his overwhelming presence. A hard-hitting feature-length drama with terrifying visuals that depicts the "crime and punishment" of a single act of madness.

Leaving aside the Musica Picta series (1987), Pilař rarely worked with recordings of physical performances in his videos. In his art study Painting, he composes an artistic space from three motifs: dance choreographies, collages and paintings, and chroma keyed images of fire, with Martin Hřebačka's abstract animations shining through occasionally.

We Interrupt This Program (1991) was a live television broadcast presented by The Kitchen in association with Visual AIDS for Day Without Art 1991.
