The story of a man who returned to his native village and remembers his happy childhood

In 1985, a lively cultural life was boiling in the dignified building of the Jõelähtme community center, built in 1918. But the eyes of enthusiastic people who practice singing and playing instruments are overshadowed by mundane misery. Everything is in short supply and most of the year one has to operate in a cold and desolate unrenovated house. In the old house, the practices of the village chapel and singing choir take place, youth dance evenings are organized, and a concert dedicated to the anniversary of the October Revolution is waiting.

A portrait of the filmmaker's daughter from the ages of two to five, the film chronicles her growing understanding of herself, her family and her world, and allows a rare insight into a child's intelligence and sense of will. In the space of forty minutes, Beginning Pieces traces a picture of years passing, not only for the child, but for the father.

We finish with a driver’s eye view of the Royal Albert Bridge at Saltash. Filmed in 1986 just weeks before the semaphore signals were abolished for ever.

Paris, August 16. Injured, Marie and Serge manage to escape their failed bank robbery. In an empty city, the lovers opt to hide out separately while the police are still looking for them. To keep in touch, they have special drop-offs for postcards that encode their next meeting place using classical poetry. As the police close in, family concerns intrude on the two wanted suspects.

The film tells the story of a man's loneliness and emptiness in a big city. It is a high-quality and completely forgotten film based on Vera Tkachenko's short story of the same name. Irina and Viktor's life together is difficult. Viktor works tirelessly, but he constantly receives criticism from Irina. Despite the fact that her husband has just returned from a long business trip, Irina demands that he get a ticket to the Caucasus. Their daughter has fallen in love with a local eccentric and doesn't care about her father's opinion. Victor only hears mockery from his daughter. The days pass in a gloomy and meaningless manner. When he meets the woman he once loved, Victor realizes that he married Irina only because she was expecting a child.

In April of 1986, Wen Pulin and his then-wife Zheng Ziru directed students at Beijing Second Foreign Language Institute in an English-language play adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Timon of Athens." The play was part of "The First Shakespeare Festival in China," and in a move that was unusual for the era, Wen — who had already dabbled in independent filming with his students — decided to record the entirety of the play. This 'video' was screened for public audiences the same year of its production. And in March of 1987, it was displayed on television sets as a 'video installation' during the "Wen Pulin 1987 Art Exhibition." It is one of the earliest examples of video art in China.

The spotlight is shone upon the Goler family when a 14-year-old female member of the family flees the family and reports her lifetime of abuse. The Goler family lived together in two dilapidated shack shacks in a remote wooded area on South Mountain, located south of the community of White Rock, outside the town of Wolfville. Their ancestors occupied the area since at least the mid-1800s and due to their isolation, this caused generations upon generations of incest. Charles and Stella Goler, the patriarch and matriarch of the family, lived together with their five sons and grandchildren in the shack.

One man, a brave paratrooper, has a problem with a sore tooth, but is afraid to go to the dentist. He is brought to him by his several-year-old son. In the office, apart from the dentist, a plush toy awaits him - "Checkered dog", which the man remembers from his childhood. The doctor, by playing films with the participation of a dog on a VCR, means that the man, absorbed in watching his favorite childhood hero, does not pay attention to the run-offs and thus can extract the aching tooth.

A poor and humble community is threatened by a powerful criminal known as Dlamini, extorting the under-privileged villagers for protection money while stealing from them at the same time. When Makhosi returns home after years away, he is horrified to see what Dlamini is doing to his friends and family. After his good friend, Charlie, is threatened by the crook, Makhosi decides to take action.
