An unknown man in an unknown place discovers a prison world where time and space escape norms.

Performance by Edward Luyken in his Paris home. Luyken wears overalls like those worn by German tank soldiers. First he plays with a kind of amulet, then he makes small objects by stacking and sliding together clumps of various sizes. This activity is intermittently interrupted when Luyken has to rewind the spring of his camera every twenty seconds.

This quiet vacation turns out to be a frantic day with romance, unexpected turns and fisticuffs between suitors.

The story is about a little bear who has never seen winter and wanted to know what would happen after the end of autumn. The bear cub approaches the wolf with questions, who said that winter will come after autumn and everything will be covered with snow. The mole did not hear the bear's questions about winter, because his ears were filled with earth. At the end of autumn, the bear falls into hibernation and has a fantastic dream.

Lesson of April 14, 1978 (class #1) Films discussed: Fallen Angel (Otto Preminger, 1945), Breathless (Jean-Luc Godard, 1958). In the vaults of Concordia University's Visual Collections Repository department slept some 30 ½-inch black-and-white video open reels. They contained Jean-Luc Godard's 14 lessons, spread out from April 14, 1978 to October 21, 1978. The sessions consisted of long and brilliant series of digressions (often uninterrupted), initiated by questions from the audience or from Serge Losique. There are dazzling reflections on editing, economics, actors and actresses, war, political commitment, the media, and we witness the setting in motion of a unique thought.

Tierra y Libertad is the name of a united front of former Mexican peasants gathered on the outskirts of the city of Monterrey, in the industrial north of Mexico, who are occupying urban land and building their own type of society there.

A young painter comes to the monastery where he's supposed to paint Virgin Mary. There he meets and falls in love with a beautiful novice named Agripina, eventually modeling his artwork by her appearance. This gets him in trouble with the church canons and Mother Superior, and he leaves.

What was once a daily necessity gradually became a nostalgic cultural artifact. Today, a handful of long-established artisans continue to follow traditional methods. With patience and precision, they craft each umbrella by hand. Though its original function has faded, their emotional bond with the craft remains unchanged. Their dedication and skilled workmanship reflect a deep-rooted respect for materials and tradition, preserving a vanishing heritage one umbrella at a time.

Don’t Forget shows traces of light on film emulsion. Blonk filmed reflections in the water, light passing through a canopy, and moving light sources. By zooming in and making circular camera movements and vibrations caused by long exposure times, patterns in different forms are created. For this film, he used extremely high-contrast, orthographic film, which creates an abstract-expressionist game of light and shadow.

Karajan had been appointed music director for life of the Berlin Philharmonic in 1955, and soon the orchestra mastered the entire palette of Karajan's subtly defined phrasings, moods and orchestral colors. At home in the majesty of Bruckner or the raw power of Beethoven, the orchestra was also able to "let go" with Suppé or a Lisztian Hungarian Rhapsody, as the recording illustrates. For the 1978 New Year's Eve concert with the Berlin Philharmonic, Karajan put together a program of exclusively popular classical works, pieces that would guarantee a bubbly good time. Following Verdi's Overture to "La forza del destino" are the two major works of the program, Bizet's Arlésienne Suite No. 2 and Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2. The Hungarian March, or "Rákóczy March," from Berlioz's "La damnation de Faust" never fails to rouse listeners with its instrumentation. The program closes with the Intermezzo from Mascagni's "L'amico Fritz" and the popular Overture to "Leichte Kavallerie" by Suppé.

Through the 1980's in every Canadian province east of Saskatchewan, except Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, chemical insecticides are sprayed from the air onto the forests to combat the spruce budworm and other forest insects. The focus is on the province of New Brunswick whose spraying began in 1952. It explores who both sprayers and anti-sprayers are, the role of government, the economics and the health issues surround the aerial application of insecticides.
