In pursuit of freedom and a peace of mind, Ali leaves his crowded family home and moves to a fishing village on the opposite side of the island. In the village, he was invited to stay at an old fisherman Pak Yem's house. Pak Yem has been living alone for a long time. On a fishing trip, Ali picks a few oysters from the sea and discovers that one of them contains a black pearl. When the pearl goes missing, Mariam, who is also from the same village and is frequent visitor to Pak Yem, is accused of stealing it. Ali knows that Mariam is not a thief, although Mariam's stepmother Zaiton insists that it's her and banishes her from their house. Mariam has no choice but to stay with Pak Yem and Ali temporarily. Later, it was found out that Mariam's unkind brother-in-law-to-be, Rahman, had stolen the pearl and sold it to a general store, where Ali saw it displayed. Rahman's misdemeanor is revealed and Zaiton regrets her actions towards her stepdaughter.

The life of Hans Christian Andersen. The son of a poor cobbler, he becomes Denmark’s national poet. The film reveals the strange childhood from which he derived the whimsy and fantasy of his fairy tales. As a boy of fourteen, he went to Copenhagen, bent on achieving fame in one way or another. He failed to impress the theatrical producers but obtained a scholarship from the King of Denmark. Soon he was writing short stories, plays, poems, novels and fairy tales.

The Servant of Two Masters (Italian: Il servitore di due padroni) is a comedy by the Italian playwright Carlo Goldoni written in 1746. Goldoni originally wrote the play at the request of actor Antonio Sacco, one of the great Truffaldinos in history. His earliest drafts had large sections that were reserved for improvisation, but he revised it in 1789 in the version that exists today.[1] The play draws on the tradition of the earlier Italian commedia dell'arte.

A dramatic portrayal of a struggle that is waged annually in wheat-growing areas - man against the wheat rust fungus. Views of the destruction caused during rust epidemics emphasise the urgency with which plant pathologists are endeavouring to breed resistant wheats and, eventually, to annihilate the blight. Animation, time-lapse photography and cinephotomicrography illustrate the life cycle of the fungus and the complex alternation of generations which poses one of the chief problems.
