Cinematic Era: 1955 Vintage

This black & white educational film is about the challenges we face in outer space.

In a city the size of Montreal with thousands and thousands of motorized vehicles, traffic problems are difficult to solve. Here is a panorama of such problems. This film includes an interview with Mayor Jean Drapeau, when Montreal was still the metropolis of Canada.

A short spoof of Revenge of the Creature (1955). The film was made by the crew of Revenge of the Creature in 1955 and was shown only at the wrap party before disappearing from public view. Long thought lost — or even a myth — the film was found by historian Tom Weaver in 2013, and is currently only available for viewing once a year at Wakulla Springs in North Florida, where the original Creature of the Black Lagoon was filmed.

Funded by the state, the films offer valuable insight into postwar Norwegian society. A wide range of Norwegian filmmakers contributed to the productions, resulting in a rich variety of styles and expressions. Several of the films also possess notable cinematic qualities, standing out as more than just informational material. The Oslofilms represent a unique and important chapter in Norwegian film history.

hese two churches, Viersehnheiligen and Ottobeuren are rich examples of mid-18th-Century German Baroque, a time when music, literature, architecture and philosophy were unified. The film, rather than explaining the structure, attempts to express the feeling of what German Baroque was, and what gave it such great style. The music is 18th-Century, played on 18th-Century organs.

Feature film based on a scenario and directed by Kees Stip about the raising of the flag on 4 May at around eight o'clock in the evening in connection with commemoration of the dead. Flashbacks of the narrator, who, hiding at that address, in September 1944 - Mad Tuesday - also raised the flag with the residents, as a result of which he and the residents were arrested. Only he survived the war by jumping out of the train during the transport to Germany.

One year after Abbé Pierre's famous call for help on 1-2-1954 exposing the appalling conditions in which millions of French people barely survived, nothing had changed much. In 1955, the housing crisis was rife and entire families were forced to live cramped in dilapidated buildings or in slums. Jean Dewever, outraged like Abbé Pierre by such an infamous situation, took his camera and made this militant short in the hope of alerting not only the average viewer but also the competent authorities.

Mexican feature film

The Pied Piper has led all of the mice in Hamelin into the sea with the exception of one because he was tone-deaf. The cats are all competing with each other for the single, surviving mouse, aka the Last of the Mice. He outwits them all, woos and wins a cute girl-mouse from the next village, sets up housekeeping and starts a new line of Hamelin mice.

The most prolific of the producers of documentaries filmed for broadcast on North American television was Barton Wilson, who shot at least two dozen films in various locations throughout the country. An occasional partner of Edward Movius and Dick Weldy, Wilson received favorable reviews and some public recognition with his short film Lima, City of Kings, shown in January 1955.

At fourteen, the Tyrolean boy Herman is adopted by the Flemish Vermeiren family after the death of his parents. He rises to become the leader of the youth movement, much to the irritation of Leo Deckers. Herman’s brother Bert is swayed by Leo, and together they commit a cigarette theft at the harbor. Later, Herman returns to Tyrol as a Catholic youth leader on a camp, where amid the edelweiss and the radiant mountain light, his priestly vocation is confirmed. There, he also seeks to guide Bert back on the right path.

Red double-decker buses are one of the main features of the streets of London, but to the citizens of continental Europe, accustomed to single-deckers, London's R T buses are Leviathans. It was as an appropriate symbol of Britain that London Transport sent two of its newest buses to accompany the Made In England Exhibition which toured Switzerland, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. The film follows the buses through Zürich, Heidelberg, Hamburg, Copenhagen and Malmö, and shows some of the incidents which the London drivers will remember from their crowded goodwill tour.

Zhen falls for Cao Zhi, and upon discovering this disloyalty, Cao Pi orders the execution of Zhen, and the banishment of his brother Cao Zhi.

Nurwati's relationship with Lieutenant Sutrisno was supported by her father, but opposed by her mother because the lieutenant was not rich, and her mother preferred Tirtoroso, who always looked classy. Sutrisno, from Yogya in mid-1946 was assigned to Bali via Banyuwangi beach. The attempt to go to the Island of the Gods was successful, even though he was forced to receive treatment from the residents of the island of Nusa Penida. After returning to Yogya, Nurwati became Tirtoroso's mistress.
