Resolute Ellen takes over the operations of the Grand Hotel "Paradise" from her father and immediately goes into action to increase profits. Then she throws the charming flirt Count Wetterstein out on his ass after not having paid his hotel bill for two weeks. The alleged count takes on a position as a waiter in the "Paradise" and as Ellen has, in the meantime, fallen for him, she puts him in a managerial position, where he can't so easily flirt with other women. But Wetterstein is being pursued both by the police and creditors and disappears in quick order once again.

The eternal student Netušil arrives from the countryside with his loving wife, the owner of a greengrocer's shop, and his daughter Anča. In the meantime, the creditors have completely evicted Brejcha's villa. Marek mentioned in a letter that he would like to marry his nephew to Brejcha's daughter. Little did he know, in order to help Brejcha, he comes up with a plan. His wife and daughter will become Brejcha's family and the money received from Marek will help the bankrupt factory owner pay off all his debts.

Leith Stevens leads his orchestra in a nice assortment of standards in a variety of musical styles, including Dixieland and swing. Mr. Stevens was a popular orchestra leader of the era who later became a musical director for an assortment of television shows and his facility with more than one style of music, so important for his later career, is much in evidence here.
