Highly stylised biopic of the last Pagan Roman-Byzantine Emperor, Julian the Philosopher, known to Christians as 'the Apostate'. Orphaned by his cousin Constantius (Costanzo), and narrowly escaping death himself as a child, Julian is brought up on the Greek classics by his faithful tutor Mardonius.

Esben Lykke-Seest is a school boy who gets in trouble at school when a classmate put the teachers watch in his pocket. In fear of punishment he runs away at sea and starts his adventure....

At a London auction, Princess Sonia bids against her husband, exiled Prince Victor, for a Corot landscape in which incriminating letters Sonia wrote are hidden, but it is bought by Michael Lanyard, suspected of being the mysterious, international thief "The Lone Wolf." After Lanyard gives Sonia the letters, she divorces Victor, marries Lanyard and dies after bearing their daughter Sonia. Years later, Sonia, who thinks she is the daughter of the Princess' maid, is found by Victor, now the leader of an underworld gang of Oriental crooks and Bolsheviks. Saying he is her father, Victor brings her to his home, hoping to entice Lanyard to make an appearance.

Every night a common thief stalks the local girl’s school, and he may already have stolen one heart. The headmistress of the school calls upon her nephew, the mighty detective, Basse, to apprehend the thief. On his way, Basse bumps into young Miss Lise, who happens to study at the school. She takes up the cause of two young nobles, Michele and Jole, who have been dispossessed by the unscrupulous baron Max. With her bare fists, she eliminates six shifty circus people sent by Max. “Remarkable stunts, of which a professional strong-woman of Houdini- like prowess is the protagonist, are the outstanding feature of this unusual and entertaining thrill-film, whilst the amazing sensations are pleasantly relieved by a vein of irresistible comedy (“The Bioscope”, 1 April 1920).

Adaptation of 1911 novel The Reason Why by Elinor Glyn – Tancred, the English Lord, after having lost all his money wants to immigrate to Canada. He was about to leave when his friend presented him with a rich widow, Zora. The young man is delighted with this opportunity, gets married and stays in England. The woman suspects that her husband married her only because of her money, so at the beginning she behaves coldly with him. The husband, however, gradually becomes increasingly in love with his wife and he would heat up their chilly relationship. One day - when Zora tells her life story to her husband– two hearts finally find each other, and marriage of convenience becomes a love marriage.

Like almost all of Edmo Cominetti's films, in this, his first film as a director, he presents an important social situation plagued by conflicts that arise in a town. It was presented as a Chaco Film production. This film was shot in partnership with Edmo's brother, Sóstenes Luis Cominetti, being a kind of rehearsal.

Adaptation of 18th century French novel "Histoire du Chevalier des Grieux, et de Manon Lescaut."

Paramount recruited Frank Moser to produce the Bud and Susie cartoons for its weekly screen magazine. To judge from the 1919 edge code on the nitrate film print found at the New Zealand Film Archive, The Jam Makers appears to be one of the earliest in the series. The simple story centers on two siblings—little brother Bud and big sister Susie—with a sweet tooth and a hankering for a treat. When Susie concocts “play jam” with dirt and water, Bud cries for the real thing. He spots fresh jam cooling on the kitchen windowsill and, braving a covetous rooster and cat, swaps jars. The kids get their just desserts when Mom offers them the faux jam for a snack. Paramount dropped the series after two years.

This film will be liked by hen-pecked husbands and those who like to slip out evenings for a game of draw. But the moral is: Don't let your friend's apartment be raided by the police.

South African Film

A rich merchant, Antonio is depressed for no good reason, until his good friend Bassanio comes to tell him how he's in love with Portia. Portia's father has died and left a very strange will: only the man that picks the correct casket out of three (silver, gold, and lead) can marry her. Bassanio, unfortunately, is strapped for cash with which to go wooing, and Antonio wants to help, so Antonio borrows the money from Shylock, the money-lender. But Shylock has been nursing a grudge against Antonio's insults, and makes unusual terms to the loan. And when Antonio's business fails, those terms threaten his life, and it's up to Bassanio and Portia to save him.
