Lanka Dahan (Lanka Aflame) is a 1917 Indian silent film directed by Dhundiraj Govind Phalke (Dadasaheb Phalke). Phalke also wrote the film based on an episode of the Hindu epic Ramayana, credited to Valmiki. A retelling of the familiar 'Ramayana' story of Rama's wife Sita being abducted by Ravana, the demon king of Lanka, and Rama's triumph with the aid of men, monkeys and bears. From the trees Hanuman the brave monkey observes Sita held captive in the tulasi garden where Ravana comes to intimidate her. The main part of the film covers Hanuman's rage while in Lanka when he set the whole island afire with his burning tail.

Necmiye Hanım's neighbor was a gangster named Küçük Cemal. Upon learning of Pertev Bey's arrest, Cemal senses an attempt to attack Necmiye Hanım's honor. Through his friend Eftalya, he learns that Necmiye Hanım has entered Şekip Paşa's house. Together with a few friends, he raids the house and manages to rescue Pertev Bey, who is being held captive by Necmiye Hanım and Şekip Paşa, and escape with him.

Years later, at the outbreak of WWI, Gitta leaves Russia with the help of the colonel. She returns home to find her family. She learns about her husband’s death and her son’s disappearance. She becomes a successful actress. A young man falls in love with her, but she recognizes him as her son.

Recognizing in him a man whose skill points back to happier days, Helen encourages him to tell her his story, promising to get him the position of relief operator if he cares to accept it. Morley's story takes him back several years to the time when he gave up his position as an operator following the death of his wife. He has never seen his little daughter since turning her over to the care of a rich brother.

Grace Penrose (Fenwick) is established as a "vampire"—a femme fatale type character of the era—due to heredity. Seeking a change from city life, she retires to a mountain lodge. She encounters married man John Winthrop and becomes obsessed with stealing him from his wife, Beth. The husband leaves his wife for Grace. The wife, however, seeks help from the local female mayor, whose own son was previously victimized by Grace. The townspeople, led by the mayor, take action against Grace. The film concludes with the villagers taking Grace to be tarred and feathered while the husband begs for, and is granted, forgiveness.
This was Gardel's first film and was directed by Francisco Defilippis Novoa and was made in collaboration with Celestino Petray.
