Cinematic Era: 1915 Vintage

Future Pulitzer Prize winner Owen Davis was one of the scenarists for this Kleine-Edison production. ene Fenwick stars as Ruth McAllister, one of two sisters currently being victimized by a phony hypnotist named Wilkins (Richie Ling). A murder is committed, and all evidence points to Ruth as the guilty party.

Another of the fast and furious slapstick comedies produced for Keystone that is long on speed and mugging and short on jokes. Gussle and his wife decide to go mountain climbing and shoot at each other in a not very interesting effort. Syd does not even manage his usual graceful surprise movements in this, but spends, like most of the cast, a lot of time falling down.

Insurance adjuster John Smith leaves for a nearby town to adjust a loss. He tells Mrs. Smith that he will be home in a few days. Traveling salesman John Smith leaves for a short business trip. He also tells Mrs. Smith to expect him in a few days. Salesman John wires his wife that he will be held up until the next day. Adjuster John Smith wires his wife that he will be home on the midnight express and to have lunch ready for him. The messages get crossed and many comical misunderstandings results until all is happily resolved.

This play is enacted during the stormy days when Robert Emmett tried vainly to free Ireland. Con Daly loves Nora Doyle, who lives with her mother in a little cottage amid the hills and dales of old Erin. In a cave nearby the men who would free Ireland are making arms and ammunition. Robert Emmett visits them, and then goes into the enemy's camp disguised as a flute player, and returns safely. The constabulary visits a family and a riot starts, and as a result Major Kirk is shot. Desperately wounded, he is taken to the home of Mrs. Doyle. Nora and Con nurse him back to health.

Ilford's Fairlop Plain provides the battlefield for ploughing matches between local hands and Essex outsiders.

A physician is dragged down to the depths by the drug habit, losing position and wealth. After pawning every available possession except a revolver to satisfy his craving for the drug, he returns to his cheap lodging house to end his life. Half stupefied, he gets into the wrong room, where he finds a woman and daughter almost starved. He takes his revolver and pawns it to buy food for them. His own act of kindness gives him a new view of life and he struggles to break his habit. Many times he almost falls again, but is aided by a nurse whom he had known years before. Finally he throws off the yoke altogether and wins back to manhood and the love of a woman.

Jim Montgomery is wrongfully convicted of murder after being assaulted by burglars who use his tools in a robbery. While imprisoned, he escapes with the help of his cellmate, Bill Hawkins, and later assumes a new identity as a cotton mill superintendent. Ultimately, Bill reveals the true murderer, Gutzler, clearing Jim's name and allowing him to reclaim his life. This silent drama short is presumably lost.

Broncho's former wife writes a note to him shortly before her death, asking him to forgive her, also the other man. Broncho is heartbroken at hearing of her death, and his memory takes him back to the days when they were happily married. Then this scoundrel came into her life and finally succeeded in parting them.

Sharky, a rival road agent, plots to spoil a trial run to be made on Helen's road that will win a mail contract. He opens a waste valve on the tank of the engine, and, when nearing Lone Point, the water tank runs dry. Helen comes to the rescue by mounting the new gasoline speeder and starting off with the mail for the end of the run.

Broncho Billy is in love with the rancher's daughter. Her father disapproves of their affair and one day quarrels with Broncho. A few days later the rancher drops dead while at work. Broncho Billy's rival discovers the body and seeing an opportunity to implicate Broncho, shoots the rancher's body. Broncho Billy is accused of the murder

Sweedie, the theater's scrubwoman, in love with the unappreciative props, become enamored with the idea of a stage career.

The Colonel, for many years, has lived in the past, reverencing the lost cause of the Confederacy and hating all Northerners. When his daughter, Rose, named for her mother, falls in love with a New England youth, he haughtily refuses his consent. Rose and John Hewins run away and are married.

A Cigarette - That's All

Fisherman’s drama about a woman who thinks her husband has drowned while fishing, and then marries one of his colleagues after a while. Then her husband suddenly pops up again; it turns out that his colleague appears to have lied about his death.

Kalle Glad is engaged to be married with Sofie, the love of his life. But his past is full of women, something Kalle is determined to keep from destroying their relationship.

Betty Brown is an egregious coquette and flirt. She fools a pair of lovers, and her indecision lands her in a pretty mess at a Hartford hotel, where she is cajoled into passing herself off as the wife of a man whose real wife is on her way to meet him. Betty just butts into a sea of trouble, for the man and his wife are to receive some money from the former's uncle on condition that the wife meets with his approval. The general mix-up at the hotel caused by the meeting there of all these opposing interests is the cause of a great deal of fun and confusion, the central figure of which is always Little Miss Betty Brown.

rich count, who is an avid collector of antiques, buys an antique box. However, he does not know that this artifact is under a terrible, centuries-old curse. Since the purchase, he has been constantly haunted by a ghostly apparition in the form of a medieval knight's wife. One day, the count visits a friend at his castle. When a fire breaks out there, the count discovers the secret of his enchanted box. He discovers an ancient document called "Notes of the Court Jester of the Castle" and reads this document. Now he discovers the reason for the curse.

A chorus girl in a theatrical show is being pursued by a "Stage Door Johnny" while her somewhat prudish boyfriend tries to "rescue" her from a life in the theater. Old Jane, the show's wardrobe mistress, takes the girl under her wing and gives her advice on how to handle her situation.

Wealthy bachelor Forest Keene lives in a mansion with his nephew Rex Booth and housekeeper Janet. Rex and Janet are in love with each other, but Keene objects to the match threatening disinheritance in the event of a marriage. Gifted with an ancient knife, Keene nods off holding it, falling into a nightmare where he sees the ruination of them all because of his obstinacy. Awakening he realizes the folly of his objections and gives his consent to Rex and Janet’s union.

Gilbert enters his house through an open door and discovers a young female thief stealing his jewels. He lets her go, but they are both caught by two accomplices: one posing as the homeowner and the other as a policeman. The impostors manacle Gilbert and the girl together and have them "marched away." The fake policeman then returns, announcing he "gave them the slip," and he and his partner prepare to flee. At this point, the real police arrive, led by Gilbert and the girl, and the two wily crooks are arrested. The story concludes on a romantic note, with the open door proving to be their "gateway to happiness" as love awakens between Gilbert and the lass.

A cat gets caught under a hat and walks around, frightening everyone in town.

Esther Lee, a western girl, attending a college in the east, becomes engaged to Harold Shaw, a young collegian. She goes home to spend her vacation on the ranch, and arrives just after the election which has made her father the county sheriff.

Just out of college, in love with Letty Grey, whose father is quick-tempered and opposed to him, also possessing a wealthy rival, Bertie feels he doesn't stand much show until he tells his troubles to Belle Chester, his cousin. Her sympathy and encouragement brace him up wonderfully. Meanwhile, Letty's father has bullied her into submitting to an engagement with the rival, Clarence Merkle, who is a susceptible gentleman of some 40 summers. Bertie learns of this, and in despair, again consults Belle. She tells him she will reconnoiter the enemy. She visits Letty, is introduced to Merkle, and learns he simply cannot resist a woman's wiles. She then secures a classy walking rig, tells Bertie to put it on, assists him to fix up as a fair young damsel, and gets him introduced at Grey's house as her friend from the West.

Short World War I film.

Ferdie's wife is fox-trot crazy, wanting to go dancing all the time. To get out of it, Ferdie fakes an ankle injury. When his wife spies him walking without his crutch, she writes a letter to her stern mother, inviting her to stay with them while Ferdie heals. Rather than face his mother-in-law, Ferdie admits he was faking his injury, and tears up the letter.

A poor man and his wife have a hard struggle to make ends meet. They have seven children and frequently find it a hard task to get food for them all. The poor man has a wealthy brother who has no children. He and his wife are very anxious to adopt one of the poor brother's children. He offers his brother a house, land and money if he will consent to give up one of the children. T

The young millionaire Murray is on a cruise in hostile waters when the World War I begins.

Roy Norman and Marie Thompson are betrothed. However, a friend of Roy's, Allan Boyd, arrives and he and Marie are mutually attracted to each other. This attraction leads Marie to return the engagement ring to Roy. One evening, Marie pretends to have a headache to stay home from the opera with her parents, dismissing her maid, expecting a visit from Allan. Instead, Roy arrives, sees Marie with Boyd, and discovers their relationship. Later, Allan's brother, Dr. Boyd, informs Roy that Marie has been in an eastern hospital and has given birth to a baby. He shares a statement from Marie naming the father. A year later, Allan marries, having seemingly forgotten Marie.

Lee Russell, a young business man, leaves the city for a vacation sojourn in the mountains. Jeff Smith and Joe Butler run a moonshine still in the mountains and Jeff is in love with Butler's daughter, Rose, but the love is not returned. Lee Russell, seen near the still by Jeff and Butler, is shot by Jeff and wounded.

A group of wealthy men try to corner the cotton market and force the price. They succeed in their plans and the market panics. To be completely successful, they must incorporate John Osborne, who controls a large amount of cotton, into their group. They approach him with their plan, but he refuses to accept it.

Sweedie has fallen in love with the grocery boy, and in order to gaze upon his smiling face orders groceries at every possible opportunity.

Diana is assigned to find out the details of the enemy's war tactics. Together with her partner in crime, Robertson, she manages to get in touch with Captain Argo and retrieves secret information. All is proceeding according to plan until Diana slowly gets torn by on the one hand her duty as a spy, and on the other her passionate feelings for Captain Argo.

Shirley Christy, Champion Mile Runner of the World, has become a tramp and finds himself in the mountains of Arizona. In flashback we see that he was framed for cheating which led to his fall. He drifts into a mining camp where by chance he discovers the cheat who ruined him, up to his old tricks. He foils the new plot, wins the girl of his dreams and faces the world with new determination.

Billy is playing in his backyard with his dog and baby sister, Mary. A ball from the neighboring yard hits him on the head, leading to a fight with the ball's six-year-old owner, Jack. Billy loses the fight and sends his dog to avenge him, which scares Jack. Later on the beach, Jack leaves his four-year-old sweetheart, Olive, to buy ice cream. Billy approaches Olive and she leaves with him, his dog, and baby Mary. When Jack returns, Olive tells him she prefers Billy, making Jack angry and eager to get Billy "in wrong at home". Jack finds an opportunity when baby Mary crawls away near some rocks, and he hides her.

A couple of rowdy gamblers, a cowboy, and a woman undercover.

Three suitors swarm the singer Adelaide, two of which own millions, while the last one owns naught but wit. Miss Adelaide is offered a lucrative tour in America, but her contract already binds her to Europe. Only a hypothetical husband could cancel the Europe tour. Together with her suitors, Adelaide devises a plan – a marriage with an eight-day trial period with a handsome dowry! But neither millionaire will let the other one marry her. They both turn to the third man, Robert, whom they consider harmless. After the trial period, it turns out that no money will sway Robert’s love. (Stumfilm.dk)

When the stagecoach is about to pull out on its daily trip, Jack, the driver, finally locates Tom, the coach guard, in a saloon where a fight is in progress and Jack helps Tom whip several of the cowboys. One of the cowboys vows revenge and plots to hold up the stagecoach.

The story revolves around extortion and blackmail, with a notorious con artist making life impossible for everyone else.

A crooked mine owner attempts to hijack his rival's shipment of ore, but Helen foils his plot by jumping onto the engine and pulling the throttle wide open, eventually exposing the unscrupulous villain.

Wealthy young sculptor Harold Harcourt has always used his wife Elena as his model and inspiration. But after a few years he aspires to create a magnificent work of art… a statue of "Youth," yet feels Elena lacks that indefinable "something," which spells Youth. Callously disregarding her feelings, he tells her she is too old turning to Ione whom he sees as the perfect model for his greatest work. As the inevitable follows Elena, broken-hearted, turns to former suitor Julian, who offers solace. Tempted to run away with Julian, she instead goes away alone leaving a note for her husband saying she trusts in him to save the situation. Conscience stricken, he smashes the work of art he has created to make amends and secure his wife's forgiveness.
