Japanese horror movie from 1912.

Charles Prince is an inept butler, so he is fired. He goes and gets a job at a restaurant, where he discovers his former employer in a tryst with a young woman who's clearly prepared to be no better than she is, and snatches a love letter from the boss to the girl. He uses this to reinsert himself into his former home, where he drinks the master's wine, smokes the master's cigars, and insults the master's cook.

Charles Prince is starving in his attic when he gets a telegram. It's a chance to perform at a dinner party. When he arrives, however, the servants mistake him for the replacement cook; the usual has just walked out in a huff. So the bewildered singer is set cooking, with some unfortunate results.

Students Lind and Beck are on a hiking trip in North Zealand. They enjoy the summer sun, eat apples by the roadside and soon come across the idyllic estate Sølyst, where they fall in love with the estate owner’s two beautiful daughters. Soon, however, dark clouds loom on the horizon: the simple-minded farmer they gave a shilling on the way is in fact an escaped criminal named Black Carl, and he has sinister plans. (Stumfilm.dk)

Polidor applies for a job that requires a collar.

Tommy is bright and good-looking and he attracts the notice of a lady in a London slumming party. While she is talking to him, he steals her watch and chain. The loss is discovered and the police get on Tommy's track. A pal warns him. He pawns the watch and gets out of London. Wandering off into the country he is met by a tramp who, seeing him count over the money, takes it from him and knocks him down. He is left half dead beside the road. Captain Barnacle and Bunce, driving home from the village, find the waif and Barnacle takes him home. Ruth bandages his wounds and gives him food and they let him sleep on a couch in the kitchen. He attempts to steal some old silver of the captain's. He is discovered and the captain is going to cast him out, when Ruth pleads for him and the captain resolves to give him another chance.

Charles Prince and wife Amélie Diéterlé quarrel over everything, particularly where to put the vase of flowers, even when people insist on calling to interrupt their dinner.

Maurice Schwartz gets a job in a spice store. As low man on the totem pole, he does the deliveries, at which he is particularly inept. There's also a dog which attacks him and won't let go.

Left with two small children, Mrs. Morgan finds it difficult to make both ends meet. Polly, her daughter, does the housework. Tommy is looking for a situation to help his mother. He applies for one in the office of Hervey and Porter, real estate, etc. Porter refuses him because he has had but little experience, but Jack Hervey, touched by the boy's earnestness and hard story, takes him on.

Officials of a foreign country learn that certain United States war plans they desire are in the possession of a prominent senator, at his country home. An adventuress, high up in society circles, delegated to learn their location, secures the combination of the safe they are in and her confederate enters and is robbing the safe when the senator's daughter surprises him. She is overpowered and he escapes with the plans. The secret service man in attendance follows, and one of the most exciting chases ever seen in pictures follows.

Netty Parker and her sister, Mildred, two brave western girls, are instrumental in capturing two notorious outlaws in the cleverest of ways. Returning from town early one evening, they discover two bandits who have held up the afternoon stage, laughing over the division of the loot.

Jean Dupont, a captain of the Coast Guards, is in love with Marie, the daughter of a smuggler. Jean thinks her father is a respectable fisherman. One day, while Marie and Jean are taking a stroll near the coast, he receives an order to the effect that the smugglers are quite active in his district and cautions him to double his guard and to be on the lookout. This order is seen by Marie. She at once thinks of her poor father and makes an excuse to get away from Jean. She runs home, gets her signal lantern, hurries to the spot where her father waits for the usual signal of safety. Marie meets her father, who is returning with the smuggled goods. She informs him that the guards are after him. and pleads with him to allow her to take his coat and hat that she might lead the guards a wild goose chase so that he can reach home in safety. Marie is mistaken for a smuggler by Jean, and his guards. Jean orders his guards to shoot.

Andre Deed sees Valentina Frascaroli shoot a man who annoys her in the street and is enchanted. He decides the way to win her affection is to swap clothes with the guy who cleans his apartment, and swagger about the cheap Montmartre saloons. Miss Frascaroli likes it, but the apaches who make up her friends don't, and proceed to torment the lovestruck fellow.

Whiffles, the awkwardly funny comedian, after reading an ad, offers his services to Pathe Freres as a moving picture actor. The illness of a leading man gives Whiffles an opportunity to show his ability. His experiences as a lover are highly diverting, as, in a situation of this kind. Whiffles is unequaled. A few days later, however, the husband of Whiffles' leading lady sees the picture in a theater. Being of a mean and jealous disposition he challenges to a duel. Whiffles accepts and although a loser, the manner of his defeat will win him many new admirers and delight his old friends.

Turning a sharp bend in the road, the car overturns, and its fair occupant is thrown into a ditch. From this embarrassing dilemma she is rescued by the two. The hospitality of Castle de Vere proves much to her satisfaction, while the knowledge of the fact that Mr. Dupont has been ‘wafted hence’ causes great satisfaction to the trip. Algy and his brother Rudolph are both led to believe that they are accepted suitors. Their surprise is great, however, when their noble uncle interrupts the duel, to which this rivalry has given birth, and introduces them to their future aunt, your truly, Madame Dupont.

Marcel Perez meets Nilde Baracchi at a party and falls instantly in love. How much comedy short subjects have contributed to the 'falling in love at first sight' trope might make an interesting paper. Anyway, he falls in love, but things go wrong at the party, then again when he waits outside her apartment -- today we would say he was stalking her. Back then it was considered cute, particularly given the indignities of Italian slapstick -- and when he finally meets her again on a train.
