White Space was created as a variation on the theme of Creation. The work uses the Creation story of Adam as a guide ("formed man from the dust of the ground"). A human head appears as animated 'dust' as it emerges from and descends into a chalky white pool. While the non-narrative short film can viewed as the original "man" being created, there are also references to science-fiction and the head takes on a ghostly ethereal quality...like an alien being from another planet. Influences of David Lynch as well as the repetitious music of minimalist composers Philip Glass and Steve Reich can also be seen. In addition to directing the video, Jym Davis also appears in the work.

American jazz, for all intents and purposes, began with the innovative, legendary 1920s trumpet solos of Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong. (Even Armstrong's inimitable scat singing became much imitated.) Indeed, the genre owes "Satchmo" a huge and continuing debt. This video contains several of Armstrong's most well-known signature tunes, including "You Rascal You," "Just Because," "When It's Sleepy Time Down South" and others.

Atomic Park is a place in the White Sands desert (New Mexico), not far away from Trinity Site, where the first atom bomb exploded in 1945. This national park provides an ambivalent landscape, as well suited for a picnic as for ballistic tests. A white desert, like a natural exhibition hall every movement can provoke diverse interpretations. Like a faint echo we hear Marilyn Monroe's desperate monologue and accusation about man's violence from The Misfits (1961). - Torino Film Festival

TV's Mark Evans relishes a challenge. He's built a supercar from scratch, put together a 200 mph plane and painstakingly restored various rusty wrecks back to their former glory and all in front of television cameras. He's even built his own helicopter. But, in this, his latest quest, Mark takes on a more down-to-earth challenge shared by millions of motorists every year: How to get the best price possible for your car when the time comes to sell. Mark asks a stranger to lend him her 5-Series BMW Estate. It's 12 years old, done 130,000 miles and, although much loved, is in a sad and sorry state. Once bright red all over, the paintwork is now various shades of pink and the car is filthy dirty, inside and out. It's been valued at just £375. What happens next is nothing short of miraculous. Coached by an experienced valeting professional, but using only DIY car cleaning products, Mark and his old friend Pete "Mate" wash, wipe, preen and polish the Beamer beyond recognition.

Singer Eva Cassidy died of cancer at a young age. After her death in 1996, her music was only widely picked up and sold. The American was at home in all markets, as can be seen on this DVD; she plays jazz, pop, country and folk together. Covers like What A Wonderful World, Time After Time and Autumn Leaves are beautifully performed in a unique way. The performance was filmed somewhat amateurishly with one camera, 9 months before her death on January 2 and 3, 1996, at the Blues Alley Jazz Club in Washington. The sound is perfect and Cassidy sings flawlessly.

Jackie Raynal plays director in a film in the process of being filmed. With great humor, she takes on the role of a filmmaker fighting to adapt a curious story: that of a 19th century countess who is raped by a bear. In periodic voiceover, she ironizes over the foibles of the nightmarish shoot - the fights with the actors, problems with the script and a failing budget - building a satire of the film-world and its vanity.

The film is dedicated to the memory of American surrealist Paul Sharits. Sharits sent Robakowski a film score with a proposal to use it in a film production, but the outbreak of martial law prevented the idea from being realised. The film was not made until 2004. The film was created as a result of a very rigorous, constructivist formal procedure, subordinating specific visual values to the melodic line of the musical piece. During the screening, as the notes of the composition are played, corresponding colours appear on the screen, eight colours that correspond to the notes of Fryderyk Chopin's Mazurka Op. 68 No. 4. The vibration of the changing colours and the radiance of the light create a coherent whole with the composer's nostalgic piece. The colourful fields pulsating to the rhythm of the music evoke, on the one hand, the American's structural cinema and, on the other, show the almost vital energy of colour.
