While global capitalism is a defining feature of our times, many engage in an anti-capitalist resistance. MARKET THIS! is a timely documentary that explores the desire for radical politics and culture in the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Two-Spirited and Transgender community. The documentary began in 1999 after the Queeruption gathering in New York City. During workshops and caucuses and through discussion and entertainment, participants came together to explore ways that this community can sustain and validate itself without supporting a system that actively exploits poor people, women, People of Color, g/b/l/TS/t people. This video takes the dialogue from Queeruption one step further. MARKET THIS! considers both the successes as well as the problems which resulted most visibly (and ironically) from a lack of involvement and presence of People of Color and Transgender people.

Filmed on location across England and Ireland, this program takes a close look at the Lindisfarne Gospels—a priceless work of art and one of Christianity’s most enduring symbols of faith—and the historical and religious contexts in which it was created. Michelle Brown, curator of illuminated manuscripts at the British Library, explains who made it and why, presents new findings about its dating, and shows how it unites a remarkable range of motifs and styles from the Celtic Iron Age, Germanic prehistory, ancient and Christian Rome, Coptic Egypt, and Byzantium. A wealth of other devotional objects and images from early Christianity are also featured.
HUNGRY GHOSTS is a collaboration between the artist and the curator. The video installation provides an ephemeral form where interdisciplinary elements from the disparate past are configured with unsettling current issues and produced as a new whole. Fleeting moments, manipulated images, visual clips, still photographs, text, narrative stories, home movies, sound bites, edited fiction and real time documents will be digitally seamed and beamed onto transparent surfaces. The video projections shown in a moving vaporetto (sea bus) will transport both the work and audience on a journey. The time-based work will float by the post-modernism of Venice, a rich port for thriving trade and now in the 50th edition of the Venice Biennale, the international art market converges to make the trade. This work is a site of memory where the very private becomes public. It is a virtual ‘walking the mountain’, a way to honour and remember those who have gone before.

MONTAGE 11 FAST FORWARD REWIND is a palindrome video. The streets of the city of São Paulo mix with the streets of Rome and the past of my ancestors: Italians immigrants in Brazil. The camera goes around the ancient "House of the Immigrants" in the borough of Bras and mix with photos, memories, people, suggestions of the past and the present reality of São Paulo. The peculiar thing about this video was that the music was composed at the same time that the editing was made seeking for a perfect balance between sound and image. It has not been released in public yet.

On May 26, 2002, we watched the Colombian presidential elections from Bogotà's regal Plaza de Bolivar. We had come to Colombia to document the campaign of controversial presidential candidate, Ingrid Betancourt. But on Election Day, Ingrid never arrived. Instead, she spent Election Day deep in the Colombian jungle-a hostage of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), and one of the thousands of victims of Colombia's 40 year-old civil war. In the film, Ingrid Betancourt tells her own life story including how she risked her life by denouncing Colombian politicians who have been linked to drug cartels. The film continues after the day she is kidnapped on February 23, 2002, and documents her family and her political party, thrown into upheaval, as they struggle to free her and to keep her presidential campaign alive.

Performed by my graduate students at the San Francisco Art Institute, this one act play that I had written gets the best production values that $500 can afford. Shot in a large can company, we actually pre-recorded the dialogue in the "can" as the only quiet room in the facility was the toilet. The actors then went onstage to mouth the dialogue, which was piped into the P.A. system. Nobody could really memorize all that verbiage for the three hour shooting schedule we were assigned every Thursday afternoon so it worked out pretty well and the thing should be viewed as a sort of puppet show as their jaws do drop now and then to the words. This was also planned as a major, star vehicle for Linda Martinez, an Iowa pie-maker with aspirations toward more dubious delights.
In this collage of simple images from everyday life, such as feet and butterflies, bird and flowers, the pedestrian nature of human origins is found at play amongst images of a compromised nature. From vignettes of machine-fed birds that mirror a fascination with wings, this film reflects on some of the darker fruits of man's desire for the capacity for flight.

A half-hour immersion under the trees, road after road, with a succession of landscapes from the Périgord Noir... “uaoen” is a dreamlike film that leads the spectator through a landscape in transformation: in turn, its image is transformed, tree by tree, pixel by pixel — the landscape looses it’s iconography and its depth all while moving towards a final rupture with perspective by becoming completely flat. A work which frees itself from classical film dogma in order to become a space that is open and thus reserved for the liberty of the imagination.
A small, personal and moving documentary about the father of the film maker. The title refers to a statement by her father: 'My bag has a thousand pockets. In each is a memory'. Two bodies, or rather, two women hiding in the darkness. Sometimes they light each other up, sometimes they play hide and seek in the half-light. Both fireflies and butterflies, they start surprising nights choreographies that we only see in fragments. At the end their bodies get closer, in the dark, hesitating, sometimes backwards during a lively and retained dance. Yes, that night she danced, but did they really meet?
