We experienced in the past an era when life was full of revolution and fighting, when class struggle dominated society. In modern-day China, we rarely witness such battles, but the struggle continues. In the commercial society we now live in, money has become the dictator ruling people's lives. It has become fashionable to pursue wealth. Desire leads us into a new battle, a whirlpool from which it is impossible to escape. And in this endless struggle puts a heavy burden on our emotions.

Those who care Faith and Healing in a Ladakhi Village This film gives an insight into the daily life and work of the traditional healer Amchi Smanla Tsering and his wife Tsering Dolma. They live in the Tibetan Buddhist village of Tia in a remote valley in Ladakh. Smanla is not only a healer, but also a farmer and this film shows how he combines these activities during the intensive harvest months. Very often the Amchi is the only person the villagers can turn to for medical or mental help. He also gives advice on important community matters. The Amchi's way of treatment and diagnosis is based on Tibetan medicine. Most important is the questioning, the feeling of the pulse and the observation of the tongue and eyes.

Business at the Danasco Typing Company is looking up when mad scientist Dr. Charles Metzenbeamer successfully genetically mutates a human being with a worker bee, therefore creating the perfect employee for Danasco – an employee who toils endlessly and asks no questions. To help Mr. Hives blend in with his human co-workers, Dr. Metzenbeamer has dressed him in a suit and slapped a fake moustache and toupee on him. It works, nobody notices that Mr. Hives has an enormous bee head or is chained down to his desk to keep him from attacking everyone in the office. Stacey, a Danasco employee, takes a liking to Mr. Hives, but Dr. Metzenbeamer discourages any interaction with the worker bee, at least until he can squelch its killer instinct. But curiosity turns to obsession and Stacey finds herself neglecting her long-time boyfriend, Joe, to come face to face with a killer monstrosity

This abstract film/musical composition conjures an atmosphere in which an aerial mobile is magically suspended in three-dimentional space. The floating pendants of the mobile each reveal a mysterious world filled with unique visual and aural forms, movements and gestures. The visuals have been created using hand-cut animated mattes in combination with hand-painted and etched clear and black 35 mm motion picture film. These images were then digitalized, visually transformed and manipulated, composited and post produced. The computer-generated music consists of continuous variations and transformations of a seemingly simple but open-ended harmonic theme that caroms through many key centers. However, this theme takes shape gradually, and is heard most clearly in a choral setting only after all five «protagonists» of the work have been introduced.

Coal Bucket Outlaw is a documentary that asks Americans to look at where our energy comes from at a time when coal still produced over half of our nation's electricity, and reveals the human and environmental price we pay for our national addiction to fossil fuels. Built around a day in the life of a Kentucky coal truck driver, the film brings viewers into the cab of the truck and into the lives of the people who live and work by coal haul roads for a truly wild ride. A veteran driver who owns his own truck, and a young family struggling to pay the bills guide the audience along one-lane roads, up tight hollows, onto strip mines, and around coal processing facilities, while discussion of coal’s role in providing our nation with electricity connects the lives of these truckers to the lives of everyone in America.

Dance, Voldo, Dance is a machinima-based music video produced in 2002 by Chris Brandt. The video, created using the fighting game Soulcalibur, features two players both controlling the character Voldo, using existing in-game animation to have the characters perform a synchronized dance to the song "Hot in Herre" by musician Nelly. The result of over a week's full-time preparation and training, the video was conceived after Brandt noticed the character's animations and attacks could be triggered in sync with the beat of a song, and the reactions of onlookers to such a display. While several groups demonstrated interest in showcasing the video, complications arose from the copyright holders whose works were involved in creation.

Discourse on Films is a documentary treating a new field of Icelandic culture, that is film history. Thorgeir Thorgeirson - a recipient of the honorary Edda (Award of The Icelandic Film Academy) "for his contribution to film production and general film culture in Iceland" comments on trends and tendencies of the local film industry, from the so called pioneers - as the first semi professional amateurs generously have been named - up to the more recent production of feature films. With professional skill and a clear dissident's mind Torgeirson is able not only to analyze Icelandic film history but also to sketch up a friendly-ironical picture of the “dress up society" in general.

Veteran experimental filmmaker Mary Filippo tackles issues of work, class and gender roles in this visually captivating and provocative autobiographical piece. At the core of this engaging autobiographical film is an interview with Filippo’s mother, as she recounts incidents of exploitation and gender discrimination she experienced working in jewelry factories in the 1940’s and 50’s. The filmmaker contrasts her mother’s quiet acquiescence with her own attitudes about the social injustices of her culture through a striking montage of images and audio clips - moving the viewer to consider connections between consumerism and global labor practices, motherhood, money and happiness. While her mother's attitude toward the social injustices she endured is one of resignation, Filippo’s is one of assumed but uncollected responsibility.

The “Batingaw” is a short film about a man who is in search of oneself. It is a story of a man who is looking for the perfect place where he can be genuinely free, serene, and happy; but ends up, to the same, where plastics, bottles, broken vessels, empty containers and the like stops. It is a place where the people, who live there, rely on the wastes of Metro Manila. (source: Mike Gallego)

Stretching along the River Seine, Evry Ville Nouvelle is one of those utopian towns created by town-planners and architects, where habitat, work and leisure are mixed together so as to promote social contact and community life. However, recession soon puts a term to ambitions. Certain districts turn into ghettos, catchment areas for a poor and marginalised population with little hope of finding a job or fitting into society. The film explores life in the Pyramides district, following the 402 bus route through the town and other "difficult" districts. Buses passing through their territory are one of the teenagers' favourite targets. Given the rise of sometimes violent fighting, the local public transport service (the TICE) has organised a prevention network involving the district's inhabitants. For these mediators, dialogue and prevention are the only arms possible when dealing with youngsters who feel that they live "in the outer zone"
