Meet the two greatest straight men on the 70's Northern comedy scene; Gary 'Rubber-Johnny-Faced' Rhodes and Dougie 'Bit-Mongy-Round-the-Mouth' Rivers This light hearted comedy features racist jokes, rape jokes, cripple jokes, AIDS jokes, animal slaughter jokes, defecation jokes, wanking vicar jokes also some dead babies, back street abortions, wheel-chair stunts and reptilocide. But beneath the hilarity there is a tear in the clown's Jap's eye as Gary and Dougie begin to suspect that death dwells in the domain of dark dreams..or summat like that! Quotes - 'An unapologetically offensive piece of low-grade British trash cinema' Tony Earnshaw, National Museum of Photography, Film & Television - "Unique & original style combined with biting wit & stunning satire:" Elliot Grove, Raindance Film Festival On the big Screen - 'Something Weird Weekend' National Museum of Photography, Film & Television, 2005 - Raindance Film Festival Sept 96 (Special silent screening)

Un Beso was made in the mid-90s and represented, for obvious reasons, a thematic transgression at the time of its presentation in the Spanish context. The video travels through different spaces, among which are the contradictions implicit in personal relationships or collaborative work, and it does so through a minimalist image composition that alludes, through the use of black and white, to the first performative videos made in the 60s/70s. A heated discussion between the two artists, the topic of which is irrelevant, serves as a sound frame for a close-up of a long kiss. During the action, faces seem to fight to occupy the center of the screen while escaping the gaze. The video is a kind of game in which a fiction with hints of reality and a reality with hints of fiction merge, causing a paradoxical ambiguity.

The “constants” that describe the real world. That sequence of numbers, like an incantation, guarantees this world that feels undeniably real to us. And while sustained by them, we observe the world. Within the diffuse reflections of our countless gazes, the world is constructed inside us. The constructed world, in turn, begins to weave its own “constants.” To be observers; could that not be the very reason for our existence?

The "1968" movement in Italy and around the world represents an extremely complex and nuanced event. The curator attempts to unravel some of the main threads of an intricate web of events, figures, processes, and cultures. From the first signs of the new youth movement in 1966 to 1969, the narrative unfolds non-chronologically, exploring emotion as well as historical reconstruction.

Zé Luís is 81 years old. This elderly man has always lived in the village of São Martinho in northeastern Portugal. His life has followed in the footsteps of his ancestors. He owns land, has worked it, and has been able to provide a modest living for his family. Things began to change when overpopulation and poverty led to families breaking up. His children had to emigrate. Now nothing will ever be the same again. Zé Luís is one of the last representatives of a way of life that is now gone. His children are no longer there, and the opening up of the region means that working methods have to be rethought.

In a retrospective narrative, we return to the years of World War II, to a polarized society. Against the backdrop of history, we discover the emerging animosity between the two brothers, not only because of their professional motivations, but mainly because of the object of their shared interest—the attractive woman Lilien.

Three-channel installation. (Meant to displayed on three 'faux walls' covered by wallpaper, each wall fitted with a 14-inch TV screen hidden behind a double-sided mirror with frame, which functions like a mirror reflecting the videos' viewers' faces when the videos show black screens intermittently.) The three videos were recorded without sound at the artist's home and the following contents are displayed throughout: 1) A breath directed towards a mirror, which blurs it, followed by a wiping clean of the mirror surface; 2) An opening up of a mouth followed by a sticking out of the tongue; 3) A close-up view of an eye-roll.

Transfinite Loops is a reflection on the mind's tendency to create metaphysical order in the face of chaos. The piece is both a model and a metaphor for that process. Nighttime images of carnival rides appear, mesh and then dissolve into blackness, accompanied only by the sound of wind. The work unfolds like a series of thoughts, as time and space are unraveled and woven back together into intricate knots. "As gorgeous as any fireworks display, Van McElwee’s Transfinite Loops invents dazzling astral patterns." -Stephen Holden, The New York Times "Vivid video origami erupts into a blizzard…leading out of time & space" -TL Reid, Afterimage "Transfinite Loops is infectious, life-affirming and beautiful. It makes you feel good." -David Bonetti, St. Louis Post-Dispatch
