In 1989, over 90,000 contract workers from other socialist states were living in the GDR. Around two thirds of them came from Vietnam. The contracts that defined the working and living conditions of these people lost their validity with the fall of the Berlin Wall. With the end of the GDR, colleagues suddenly became competitors for jobs. The former contract workers lost their jobs, the hostels canceled their rooms, racist acts of violence increased. Solidarity and fraternity, mostly empty words even in GDR times, remained little in reality.

The subjective-personal context is perceived as an objective document of the era, a true testimony of the time when it was created and experienced. The author reflects on events of different historical scale, but equally significant for a person. The film is built on the principle of montage of free associations: from memories of the grandmother and reflections on "the time of our grandmothers" to the image of Vira Kholodnaya as the embodiment of femininity, and then - at a sharp turn - to the problems of inter-ethnic conflicts.

This feature-length documentary presents Montreal (in Canada) in all its forms, in all its folds - Montréal bathed in all its lights, summer and winter, revisited by a filmmaker in love with its streets, its streets, its neighborhoods, its parks, its river, its churches, its buildings - Faces of yesterday and today. A disparate city of glass and concrete, shaped by architects who gave it a body and - a soul.

Part fictional narrative, part travelogue, part documentary, this unusual film serves as another sign that non-fiction film as we know it is going through a major revolution. Engaging fictional narrative elements to create a ‘mystery,’ Where is Memory is a boldly original and affecting meditation on the nature of complicity and the Third Reich. Masterful use of archival footage matched with contemporary footage of Europe, a haunting score and an inspired mix of realities for a thoughtfully framed poetic odyssey that charts new cinematic territory. — Judges’ Award, Northwest International Film Festival

This was my first documentary, and it was the result of an Alto Misayoc initiation I shared with the great Fernando Fuenzalida and Victor Nuñez del Prado. It was on that magical night that I connected with the relationship between Pachacamac and the Lord of Miracles, or Christ of Pachacamilla. The short film, Lord of Pachacamac, seeks to exalt the religiosity of the Peruvian people and shows the links and archetypal gestures between these two deities. The film brings us closer to the laments of human hearts that each year focus their hopes on an image steeped in profound tradition. Different times, one God.

A young man from Lima arrives as a tourist in a town in Huaraz. His intention is to climb the Alpamayo mountain. The community is shaken by violence, both from terrorism and its repressive aftermath. As a way of explaining this difficult situation, the inhabitants of the place appeal to their myths, one of which is that of the pisbacos, white men who extract human fat to exploit it outside the country. These mythological killers seek to take the vital and cultural wealth of the Andes to the big city. After being pursued, the truth is revealed and the young man learns to respect the way of life and the culture of the Andean environment.

La Goulue, the famous cancan dancer at the Moulin Rouge and queen of Belle Époque Paris nightlife, had somewhat fallen from grace. She was now performing at the Foire du Trône. She commissioned her friend Toulouse-Lautrec (1864–1901) to create two panels to decorate her booth. These two works, the largest paintings produced by the artist (1895), would have a dramatic fate. Resold and cut into pieces by a dishonest dealer, they were reassembled in 1929, shortly after La Goulue’s death. Like Manet and Degas, the painter used the technique of painting with essence: the pigments, deprived of oil, are very matte but also much more fragile. The canvases have lost some of their original brilliance, yet they still depict a cast of characters who, like the gods of Olympus and of classical painting, have become truly legendary figures.
