It’s the first day of autumn, and Gibbons can already smell death in the air. Leading us and his dog Woody on a walk through a cemetery, Gibbons voices his obsessive thoughts of death and destruction. Waxing weirdly philosophical, Gibbons satirically tries to impress the concept of mortality on his dog; the video, shot in Pixelvision, approximates his dog’s black-and-white vision.

“When he shot Une seconde (4 min., 20 sec.), a video animation without computer graphics, Richard Angers tried to adapt Norman McLaren’s animation techniques to video shooting and editing. A long-term solitary task, in which images are moved by hand, centimetre by centimetre, in which one plays with the number of images per second, and in which the ± pure quest for effects is more important than the message”. BLANCHARD, Louise. “Les vidéastes sont au ‘rendez-vous’”, Le Journal de Montréal, Montreal (9 February 1992), p. 38.

In this film, Edward Sheglanov wanted to present a person as an element of language, and see how a sign lives. The film came together spontaneously, influenced by charming stories about the jazz improvisation of Cassavetes’ films. The author associates this image with the beginning of the garrulous and fruitless 1990s.

Renowned ethnographic filmmakers David and Judith MacDougall explore the many meanings of photography in this profound and penetrating documentary. The film focuses on the photographers of Mussoorie, a hill station in the Himalayan foothills of northern India whose fame has attracted tourists since the 19th century. Through a rich mixture of scenes that includes the photographers at work, their clients, and both old and new photographs, this extraordinary film examines photography as art and as social artifact — a medium of reality, fantasy, memory, and desire.

Boogers, Fat Chicks, and Jovial Gang-Bangs. They're just trailer-park trash! Jim felter has created a masterpiece in the genre of suburban comedy. Stuffed follows the Puffin family and their vrious psychological disorders. Angora, the lesbophobic, overweight, white polyester pants-clad bitch in head seduces young boys (in between yelling "Lesbians!" at other women). In a hilarious scene, she raps her pants after seeing a cute boy in the middle of the supermarket. Later, she screws the guy in the closet of a record store as the customers steal everything. Any film that contains a scene where a cute baby is killed by a narcoleptic fat girl falling on it is tops in my book.

Anderson’s Carmen, who works in a tobacco factory, is as strong-willed and carefree as the original (she steals cigarettes off the assembly line). The one significant difference in that she is married. The young soldier from Georges Bizet’s original opera (1875) has been transformed into her indifferent husband who sits home idly watching television with the kids while she works.

An afternoon in August. Arata gets a ticket to stay at a high-rise hotel in Shinjuku. He invites his friends, Kenji and Mayu, to stay in his luxurious room overlooking the city of Shinjuku. When they leave in the evening, Arata calls his girlfriend Kay-chan.These are the young people of today, hedonistic and carefree. The camera never leaves the room and continues to show their actions, which are neither acted nor improvised, in long takes. In an ambiguity that is neither drama nor documentary, the film depicts the "unconcerned relationships" and "unimportant moods" of men and women who pass the time in a casual manner. For better or worse, the film realistically depicts the state of today's youth. PFF Award 1991 Grand Prix nominated work.

A Self-Portrait is the story of the art teacher Qiu Sha, told in photos and the words of Qiu Sha, about his youth, the changes in his family and in society. Director He Yi: 'What I remember now is the material that I came to mind of a man who has lived through the different eras in China. From all this material I not only read the history of a man and his family, I also learned something about the demands placed on life in a society over several decades.

"This video was recorded live in "real time". The audience saw the dancer and cameraman (me) on stage. The output of the camera went to a special computer controlled frame buffer (256x240 resolution) that I built. My assistant Richard Greene controlled the pre-programmed effects. The output of the frame buffer was projected live, and was captured to video." -ET

The line follows the coastal contours through Invergordon to Tain and heads inland via Lairg. After Rogart we pass through the long-since closed "Mound" station, still with it's platform for the Dornoch branch derelict but intact. We take a look at the remains of this erstwhile line and discover Dornoch station building still surviving. At Golspie the line became the "Duke of Sutherland's Railway" - one of the longest-ever privately built lines. Dunrobin Castle station is next on route. Here we learn a little about the Third Duke, from his great great grandson Lord Strathnaver. By the time the train reaches Helmsdale, the coast has become more rugged than ever. From there it proved absolutely impossible to drive the railway any furthe ralong the coast, so our "Sprinter" heads inland again, this time through the remote Strath of Kildonan for 25 miles to Forsinard. At least there is a road along the valley but from there to Georgemas the railway is quite alone. Filmed in 1991

A very relaxing background video compilation of footage of the Fiji islands, backed with the slick Jazz-Fusion tracks by Issei Noro who is best known as the guitarist for the Japanese band Casiopea! See the beautiful islands of Fiji as we fly into the city of Nadi. Then, follow our model/diver above and below the waves. Watch as she walks the warm sandy shores, dives into the beautiful coral reefs, and spends time with the friendly local residents. This BGV recording features all the songs from Issei Noro's 1989 album, "Vida," played in the same order as the music-only release. Performed with a number of well-known Brazilian musicians, the music is relaxing, yet upbeat & exciting. A perfect match for the footage! To make this video even sweeter, the video ends with a Carioca tune!
