Echoes That Remain combines hundreds of rare archival photos and previously unseen film footage with live action sequences shot on location at the sites of former Jewish communities in Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland and Romania. The film's production team spent over a year of research in archives around the world collecting film footage and photographs to help dramatize the folk stories, parables, and anecdotes. Playing an important role in the film are a series of evocative images from the famed photo biographer of Eastern European shtetl life, the late Roman Vishniac.

After a spoken introduction describing the various musical instruments used, the film tells the story of Kimba the White Lion, from his birth, to his escape from a ship intended to take him far from home. The story is told entirely without dialogue, and showcases a symphonic tome poem composed by Isao Tomita, based in incidental music he composed for the original television series "Jangaru taitei" (1965)

Vivek, Narayanan and Kannan are admitted in a hospital for treatment. Babu , son of a rich businessman, is also admitted in the same ward as them. They become friends in a short time. They finally come to know that they will live only for few more months, they all have blood cancer. They decide to leave the hospital and to travel. The dancing chorus of medieval citizens resembles more of a jumble of long-haired maniacs, the edge of a contemporary dump intrudes into the space of a medieval marketplace, and the characters oscillate between the past and the present, whether in their appearance, symbolism or behaviour.

The film is a wonderfully accurate portrayal of the three stories: The stories are tied together with original dialogue and scenes by Martha / Anne / Freda / Judith (Valérie Stroh) and René Feret which follow a Golden Notebook/Anna Wulf theme: she is "writing" the stories and has a boyfriend named Paul who is a psychiatrist. A Man and Two Women: Anne, a young woman, a slightly bohemian painter: "in love" with her newborn, she abandons her husband while Isabelle, her best friend, attracted by to him and becomes little by little her rival. Each Other:Fréda finds her brother every morning in the secret of her bedroom,they leave themselves and incestuous effective becomes the only possible relationship for both. Our Friend Judith: Judith, a cold and warm intellectual, secret and complex - Beautiful, Judith is careful not to show it, she knows interment and that is enough. Intelligent, she does not bend to the rules of fashion nor seduction.

Latha (Rekha) who is running her father's business empire after he suffered a debilitating stroke, receives a call from a mysterious stranger Raji, threatening to reveal embarrassing details about her father unless she pays up Rs. 500,000.
