The amazing, exquisite Baroque style came to Ukraine in the mid-17th century, during the era of liberation wars and the awakening of national consciousness. Ukraine gave the world its own version of Baroque, enriching it with traditions of folk art and architecture. The film shows only the Kyiv style of Ukrainian Baroque, preserved and destroyed architectural masterpieces. Among them are the creations of Rastrelli and Grigorovich-Barsky.

Shot during the Gulf War in 1991, Smart Bomb was influenced by footage of the video assist on the newest weapon: the Smart Bomb. It was eerie how closely it resembled the image created by the Pixel Vision camera, continuing the long relationship between war technology and consumer products. “GRITTY was rephotographed off both slides and cine footage made in 1983. The location is a popular beach where people are active enjoying the sunshine. However, I wanted to explore the notion of the Gaze and to bring out the darker aspects that resort, specially hints of voyeurism. I do this through exaggeratedly slow camera movements upon the still images and long unnaturally extended pans with moving images of children running and fishing in sunset reflecting pools.”

Jim Doyle is a social worker whose cases are anything but... He is seen visiting 3 different (all true in their own way) examples of the kooky world we live in. From the 8 year old girl who keeps a pony as a pet on the 18th floor of a block of flats, to the man who thinks the hyena he has bought is "just a puppy". This wry look at the life of a Liverpool Social Worker rightly disappeared with out trace.

This short documentary, produced by Jim Conrad and narrated by Country Dick Montana, takes the viewer on an entertaining and irreverent tour of the Dallas region. Highlights include the likes of Glen Rose's Dinosaur Valley State Park and the adjacent Creationist Evidences Museum, the landlocked shipwrecks of Arlington and Grand Prairie, and Civil War battle reenactments complete with Old West cross-dressing and soldier resurrections. The show, a pilot for a series that (unfortunately) was not picked up, was all shot on 8mm film.

"The forest smelled damp, and the sun disappeared behind a cloud. Vitalik put a Quartz camera in my hands. "I'll pretend to be a bird, and you'll take it off sometime." Vitalik lay down on the ground, and I pressed the first lever I saw. Branches cracked somewhere, and a duck quacked loudly in the air. It feels like something has cracked inside me too." - Sergey Kochurov

This televised biography special, hosted by Martin Short, examines the innovative work of comedian Ernie Kovacs, featuring a series of clips of his shows and performances. Short explains that Kovacs' work was "simple and innocent" on the surface, but featured a "grim" darker side that pleased his audience, including a memorable sketch in which his opera critic character used a shotgun to express his annoyance with a soprano's performance. He did most of his own writing and created a series of unique characters of various nationalities and professions, including a Prussian DJ and a bumbling magician. He played upon his experience as a second-generation immigrant, born to Hungarian parents, and his most famous characters included Miklos Molnar, a Hungarian cooking show host, and Leena, Queen of the Jungle. A pair of gag glasses helped Kovacs to create Percy Dovetails, a lisping poetry enthusiast of dubious talent.

Round 4 of the 1991 World Rally Championships took place in Kenya, East Africa. Nissan introduced their latest supercar, the brand new Pulsar GT with Stig Blomqvist, Mike Kirkland and David Llewellin on board. The usual big-name drivers were present including Juha Kankkunen, Jorge Recalde and Miki Biasion representing Martini Lancia's main assault team. World Champion Carlos Sainz was totally unfazed by the competition nor was he unduly disturbed by Nissan's Pulsars. Sainz spearheaded Toyota's battle squad which also included Bjorn Waldegaard and the notoriously fast Miki Biasion. The stage was set for a fast and furious round. The outcome was as stunning as the fabulous scenery of Africa, captured skilfully by the ever-alert cameramen.
