Mental anguish is all that's present in the film Seuls / Alone (1989). Shot like a grungy medical documentary, Smolders and co-director Thierry Knauff intercut shots of several children at a Belgium psychiatric clinic. The kids are shown with forlorn expressions, twicthing their eyes, sometimes smiling, shaking, jumping, rocking their heads side to side, or smacking their heads with horrific glee against walls. It's a minimalist work that captures the intense monotony of lost and disturbed young minds, and maintains a gritty intensity.

Widowed Judge Kedarnath Sinha lives a comfortable lifestyle with two sons, CBI Inspector Vijay, and College-going Sonu. Vijay is aware of the terrible tragedy that marked his 5th birthday celebration, when the party was interrupted by a vengeful escaped convict Billa, who killed DCP Ravi Khanna, cut-off Kedarnath's right hand, & abducted, raped and brutally assaulted Sharda Khanna. Sonu does not come to know of this until well after his 25th birthday, when Kedarnath tells him that he is Sharda's and Billa's son. A shocked and devastated Sonu accepts this reality and leaves the Sinha household. Shortly thereafter, Sonu is wanted by the Police for helping dreaded killer, Kaalia, escape from prison.

A cold landscape spreads across the reclaimed land. A road that stretches in a straight line. Hasegawa wanders into this place while his girlfriend, Yoko, is moving. However, the conversation between the two is awkward and doesn't mesh well. By chance, Hasegawa is left alone in this empty landscape. He starts playing with the bouncing ball. This work expresses the inability to communicate well and the feeling of loneliness through a cinematic space created by the contrast between the "stillness" of the landscape and the "motion" of a rolling ball. The sight of a single person standing alone in a desolate landscape has an almost existentialist feel to it.

This is a film inspired by Gertrude Stein's "Stanzas In Meditation", in which the filmmaker has edited a meditative series of images of landscapes and human symbolism "indicative of that field-of-consciousness within which humanity survives thoughtfully." It is a film "as in a dream," this first film in a proposed series of such being composed of images shot in the New England states and Eastern Canada. It begins with an antique photograph of a baby and ends with a child loose on the landscape, interweaving images of Niagara Falls with a variety of New England and Eastern Canadian scenes, antique photographs, windows, old farms and cityscapes, as it moves from deep winter, through glare ice, to thaw.

Then Donna feels cheated when she sees Slamet’s clothes at Wulan’s house. Later, a misfortune happens to Slamet when he is hit by a motorcycle and is hospitalised. Then Slamet returns to Wulan with Donna’s encouragement. The film is also a commentary about the changing social values in Yogyakarta: such as the intimate acts between Wulan and Slamet in Wulan’s room; the boarding house that has more relaxed rules than usual; and the busy street of Malioboro.

Comedy shot without a script on Super-8mm as a silent film, with intertitles later inserted between scenes. What unfolds is a familiar Achternbusch tale in which the protagonist (here his alter-ego, Hick) is driven by a mad longing and becomes irretrievably lost. Unable to meet the demands of the workaday world, Hick wanders alone through the city and, as in many of Achternbusch's films, enters an intermediate realm in which the dead interact with the living: he encounters and falls in love with a mummy, searches for an Egyptian queen, and stalks the inner regions of the hereafter, which lie in the middle of Munich.

Documentary film about the camps in the south of France, in which Spanish civil war refugees and the volunteers of the "international brigades", non-sedentary people and Alsatian and foreign Jews were interned from 1939 onwards. Under the Vichy regime, the camps were used to intern other criminalized population groups and French Jews, who were also deported from there to extermination camps. In a mosaic of artificially framed shots, formerly interned contemporary witnesses describe their own life stories. Director Mangiante not only sheds light on the history of the camps, but also the mechanisms of personal memory.
Astri’s mother demands angrily for a porn-video cassette that embarrasses the son-in-law Dedi, and the two grandchildren. Mother also gossips with the neighbours and even protests by not eating. To cap it all, she wants to marry Item, the blind masseur whom she often hires. She is actually seeking attention and therefore wants to remarry. In desperation, she even runs away from home. Her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren miss her. In the end, she returns, and her daughter and son-in-law finally agree to her demands. All the acts and behaviour of the mother are comedy moments in the film.
