Sweet Anna is sent as a maid to the Vizys immediately after the fall of the revolution in 1919. Since the death of her daughter, Mrs. Vizyné has devoted all her emotions and energy to the "education" of the servants. Anna is sometimes pampered, sometimes humiliated. Her nephew Jancsika seduces the young girl, who wastes all her repressed love on him. Jancsika leaves him, and when Anna wants to leave the Vizys, Vizyné, in a fit of hysteria, blackmails her and holds her back. The morning after a house party, Anna murders her hosts.

Although Juan Sarmiento, played by M.A., is first shown as a tough character, single handily fighting a bear, he is later portrayed as a family man alongside his wife and 3 small children. In order for the villain to let it be known that one doesn't turn down his proposals, he commits as act of out and out evil, which promptly calls for revenge. Juna then becomes a one man vigilante. He teams up with good guy/bad guy Rojo(F.A.) and bad girl Mercedez (D.F.).

The target of Tabula Rasa is the heart of cinema. Voyeuristic desire as the pre-condition for all cinema pleasure is at stake here. What Christian Metz and Jacques Lacan have established in theory is rendered as film in Tabula Rasa. At the beginning we can recognize only shadows from which the picture of a woman undressing herself hesitantly emerges. But exactly at the point when one believes one can make out what it is, the camera is located in front of the object. Tabula Rasa takes distance, the fundamental principle of voyeurism, in so far literally, as it shows us the object of desire but continually removes it from our gaze.
