Feisal, 30, was born in South Africa to an Indian-Malaysian father and a mother of both Scottish and Black African descent; he is a huge fan of the mega-pop star Michael Jackson. Since the mid-1980s, he has been making ends meet in West Berlin with dance gigs and other jobs, and his big break came when, following Michael Jackson’s fifth facial surgery, he was in demand as the singer’s lookalike.

In Slippage, the difference between the idea of a baby and the fact of rearing a child is revealed, as the filmmaker visits her sisters who either have young children or would like to. The cycle of mother/daughter/mother is seen as not only one of generations, but of habits and patterns unwittingly inherited. Yet, in stopping to ask questions, filmmaker Patti Bruck knowingly "slips" away from the cycle.

The Tour de Corse provides not only spectacular scenery but some of the most dangerous stages for the World Championship rally teams to challenge. Round 5 of the '89 World series saw the works teams battling on the Mediterranean island. BMW's two wheel drive M3 model was expected to shine on Corsica's predominantly tarmac stages with Francois Chatriot, and the Belgian ace Marc Duez. The Lancia Delta Integrales were still favourites with Didier Auriol and Yves Loubet. Former World Champion, Juha Kankkunen was on duty alongside Spaniard Carlos Sainz in the works Toyota Celica Turbos. The Corsican Rally provided one of the most spectacular rally events of 1989.

Two major events took place during 1989 in Argentina - Carlos Saul Menem was appointed new leader and the charismatic President saw off each car at the start of the Argentinian Rally at the Palermo Stadium. Local hero Recaldo with co-driver Jorge del Buono, led the field in one of the Lancia Delta Integrales but despite a flying start chose the wrong tyres. The challenge from Mikael Ericsson, Fiorio, Soto and Fischer led to some exciting duels and traumatic events which quickly whittled down the number of competitors. Only 33 crews completed the gruelling course out of the 77 starters. A memorable event faithfully recorded here for your enjoyment.

This is the first documentary to illuminate Neue Sachlichkeit against the backdrop of the Weimar Republic and National Socialism. Dix’s works—including the key Metropolis triptych (1928–29), the great psychological portraits, and, last but not least, the landscapes with their hidden symbolism, painted during the years he spent at Lake Constance—form the starting point for this exploration of his oeuvre. They are placed in a context with works of art by George Grosz, Rudolf Schlichter, and Christian Schad, creating a new perspective on this crucial chapter in German art history.

BBC documentary about West Country animators. The first half covers CMBT, the studio behind The Trap Door and Stoppit and Tidyup (along with an unmade feature, tantalising concept art for which is shown). The second half covers Maya Brandt, an independent animator who had recently begun her career with a couple of shorts made for Channel 4; again, concept art for an apparently unfinished film is showcased in the documentary.

The Nikolaikirche is the oldest building in Berlin. The reconstruction of this building in 1981 marked the beginning of the reconstruction of the historic heart of Berlin. The film shows the work on the Nikolaikirche, the Ephraim-Palais and the equestrian statue of St. George and describes how the restoration was carried out in painstaking detail, using almost forgotten craftsmanship. In 1987, the reconstructed quarter with its mixture of old and new was handed over to the people of Berlin.

Although the Icelandic Sagas contain many descriptions of stately homes, none of them stood the test of time. However, an archeological finding at Stöng in Thjórsárdal revealed the ruins of an ancient farm which had been preserved in ashes from the Mt. Hekla eruption in 1104. Knowledge from this finding and from literary sources were used to reconstruct in detail and Icelandic farmhouse from the 11th century. This film follows the project from the original designing stage in 1970 until the inauguration in 1977, showing the ancient techniques used to build houses from local building material such as turf, stone and wood.

"Lost forever in the vortex of Eastern European anxiety, our puppet hero Hector languishes in scene after scene of contrived torment. Antiquity is thus his total realm, his self... This is the flipside of Perestroika; the solid weight of monuments and walls crashing down on waiting faceless figures." - David Cox, Cantrills Filmnotes, Issue 63/64, December 1990.

Nuraini gives birth to her baby earlier than Kartini. Then she makes the mistake of taking her baby out of the nursery to breast feed without the nurse’s permission. Kartini then becomes suspicious because her baby has thin hair and wide forehead, while the baby on her side has thick hair. Kartini and her husband, Suripno, are sure that the baby has been switched. They report this to the nurse. Nuraini disagrees and insists that the baby is hers, especially because she has a birth certificate from the doctor. The problem is taken to court and Nuraini is found guilty.
