What’s it like being a Renaissance man when your host is a jerk-of-all-trades? What’s it like being obsessed with memory when you host lives in the perpetual present? George Barber’s The Venetian Ghost has as its hero a former ruler of Venice who, as a result of a semantic boo-boo, finds himself catapulted from the High Culture of Venice, Italia, to the High camp of Venice, LA. Barber plays up these oppositions in his usual offbeat style; having the figure of the ghost keyed in cartoon – like with Charlie and family – good-time Californians to a fault.

A LITTLE LIFE explores the life and death of Ricci Vicenti, a 19-year-old Aboriginal youth who was shot while trying to escape from Canning Vale Remand Centre in Perth. He had been arrested for attempting to steal $75 worth of groceries to feed his wife and baby. Ricci Vicenti lived a remarkable life. This film creates a moving portrait of one individual life behind the stark statistical of Aboriginal deaths in custody.

One of the first accidents of the glasnost era - the crash of the Moscow-Leningrad passenger train - which became known throughout the country, occurred on August 16, 1988. Without setting out the tasks of investigating the causes of the disaster in which 32 people died, the film addresses the human side of this tragedy . The survivors remember how they got on this train, how they lost loved ones, about the psychological consequences of the disaster for them personally.

Alyas Pusa: Ang Taong May 13 Buhay is a 1988 Filipino action film directed by Pablo Santiago and starring Ramon Revilla, Alona Alegre, Angela Perez, Paquito Diaz, and Fred Moro. It employs Revilla's usual formula of having his character own a protective amulet in battle.

This is one of the few films to document archaeological work on ancient civilizations in Africa. It also deals with an important subject, African iron smelting, and presents convincing evidence for early indigenous technologies far more complex than previously expected. The Tree of Iron is set in Tanzania, East Africa, on the western shores of Lake Victoria, where Haya people have lived for centuries.

Notorious bandit Tantia Bheel is arrested by the Police, tried in Court, found guilty and sentenced to 10 years in jail, where he gets to meet Jailer Vijay Saxena. Shortly thereafter Tantia breaks out of jail, and re-joins his fellow-bandits, led by Bhairav Singh and his son, Jagga. Acknowledging his failure, Vijay tenders his resignation and vows to bring Tantia back to jail so that he can complete his sentence. Vijay does find Tantia and readies himself to apprehend him, but he must first overcome an unexpected opponent, in the shape and form of Shankar, who is out to avenge the death of his sister, Pammi, at the hands of Tantia. Watch what happens when both Vijay and Shankar clash with each other for Tantia - while the bandit remains at large.

Biography of the writer of the Young Poland period, Władysław Orkan. During his stay in Switzerland, the author admires the richness, order and cleanliness of Alpine towns. The huge gap between what he sees and his hometown Poręba is additionally emphasized by the words of his friend, Stanisław, Amelia's son, staying with him. Even a few successive generations are not enough to come close to a similar prosperity. After the writer returns to his country, the poverty of the Polish countryside is even more painful. Władysław has an idea for a novel and shares it with his fiancée, Marta.

"What are you fighting for?" Armed simply with this question, Arthur MacCaig goes to Northern Ireland to confront Irish Republicans. The result is an inside look at the ghettos of Belfast. The Jackets' Green calls no one to arms, but offers simple portraits of a few men and women most often represented as fanatical zealots. As they speak candidly about their cause, it becomes difficult to continue branding them as "terrorists."

This film revisits the same location – a room in my house – as an earlier work, Ghost Stories (1983), and is in fact prefaced with a sequence from that film. “A house that has been experienced is not an inert box. Inhabited space transcends geometrical space.” – Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Space. Architectural, poetic and personal conceptions of space are counterposed and various techniques – multiple dissolves, superimpositions and extreme close-ups – are employed to this end. Lies & Humiliations is a haunting and lyrical work that merges poetic language and Super-8 images to invoke memory and its ghosts. Infused with an almost ethereal light, images of a house evoke its past — an old-fashioned kitchen and dining room, an ancient roof. Visions that recall childhood memories are superimposed like apparitions onto images of the present. Spoken in voiceover, a Carlos Drumond de Andrade poem, LIQUIDACAO/Special Sale, becomes a denunciatory litany that emphasizes the past's inability to cope with the future: "The house was sold, with/All its remembrances/All its furniture/All its nightmares/All its committed sins/Or those about to be..."
