The interviews conducted by Tamara Trampe in a Pankow kindergarten testify to a rare attempt to enter the world of the young interviewees completely, to give their stories a space where reality and fantasy, worries and wishes can mix freely. A space that’s not always provided in the daily life of the kindergarten, as the film casually suggests even after it was toned down by the DEFA censors: toilets without doors, ghastly birthday parties and friendly but unmistakable reprimands when the children let too much dialect slip into the grammar exercise or when their pictures of soldiers are not realistic enough.

Pieter-Dirk Uys is a South African female impersonator/caricaturist whose finely-wrought satirical touring show elucidates apartheid while lampooning it. Uys walks a thin line between censorship and arrest as he occasionally steps out of characters that include P.W. Botha, Desmond Tutu and Margaret Thatcher to deliver pointed attacks on apartheid and the South African government. Uys's popularity with both white and black audiences insulates him somewhat from government interference, but he describes his balancing act as being "like doing the tango in front of a firing squad." Across the Rubicon brilliantly portrays the humor and grace with which Uys makes his contribution to the fight against apartheid.

This is a documentary record of the fight for aboriginal title to the land that the Temagami Anishnabai have been living on for thousands of years. The band fought the reservation system in court for 20 years demonstrating that their ancestors have lived in this territory and did not sign any treaty with the British government (at the time) to surrender their land in the Robinson-Huron Treaty of 1850.

A montage of photographs (from police archives and newspapers) of tortured and murdered victims from the slums of Rio de Janeiro. The strange positions of the slaughtered bodies give a critical meaning to two traditional religious hymns that sing praise to the glory of God and the Virgin Mary. The strange postures of the mutilated bodies establish an ironical meaning to the traditional verses, while the voices of singers Agnaldo Timóteo and Ângela Maria add a pathos of deliriously popular, in an atmosphere of joy and triumph of the Virgin Mary. Film-shock. Basically an investigation about the force of gravity upon dead bodies. A small hymn of love to the mannerist art of sixteenth century.
