He hits on a method of doing so after finding where the old man lives and spying on him. Stalin is banished, but events take a strange twist, leaving Daniel with an even worse threat to deal with.

The film takes place in 1931 in Tajikistan, where gangs of Basmachi are still rampaging.

A resulted from Robakowski's re-editing the video Łódź Kaliska (1986) which he had shot together with Witold Krymarys. It was footage from an arranged situation: an unrestrained party shared by members of the eponymous group and artists associated with the Pitch-In Culture group. Robakowski and Krymarys filmed their walk through the city, which ended with a party at The Loft, an important informal meeting place on the map of avant-garde Łódź. Actions carried out in the streets, in the Balaton Bar and at The Loft were intended to form the visual element for a music video that was to accompany a popular song celebrating the working-class Łódź. A year later, Robakowski reinterpreted the video: he re-edited the recorded material, slowed it down, changed the colours, and chose Witold Lutosławski’s Symphony No. 3 as background music.

I started to explore fractals and the Mandelbrot set soon after I read about them in A.K. Dewdney's article in the August, 1985 issue of Scientific American. The concept of infinite recursion is still fascinating to me: The deeper you look, the more complicated the forms become. Philip Brazer approached me with music that he thought would work with my animated sequences. His music sets these fractals in a haunting, floating stasis that I never want to leave.

As the title reveals it, this film belongs to a larger multi media project imagined by the artist filmaker Maurice Lemaître, around the theme of the irreversible. Besides the requirement of shooting at the exhibition site of part two of the same project by Hélène Richol, I was free to respond to the concept as I felt it; and according to my usual way of working, I played with materiality of the original footage, manipulating it to its point of no return. By the same time I was also to turn over the meaning of the word, the irreversible became reversible through the flipping of the emulsion right to left, top to bottom, front to back.

This follow-up to Jean Kilbourne's award-winning 1979 documentary, KILLING US SOFTLY, further probes the harmful effects of stereotypical and sexist images in advertising.
