This is the first of a series of four themed programmes made by Yorkshire Television that aired in 1987 about life on the Manor Estate of council housing in Sheffield, consisting of events on the Estate and interviews with, mostly unidentified, residents. This one focuses on interviews with residents about living on the Estate. It relates how the residents feel about living on the Estate, the rundown conditions and poor housing, the changes, or lack of, that the Estate has seen, and the unemployment and demoralisation of those living there.

If the hands had eyes during the act of love, if the whole body could see. This is what the video simulates. It was filmed with an endoscope, the optical system with which you can go directly on and into the body. Due to technical conditions (light intensity, etc.), it was shot on 16mm film. The trick editing was done on high-tape with a special effects generator. The story is told by a sailor whose sea wife always wants to hear the story again, when she is in his arms.

The tragedies which had beset the Corsican round of the World Championship in previous years took its toll on the entry for the fifth round of the 1987 series, but the excitement of the event couldn't be denied. All eyes were on the BMW M3s, making their world debut. Bernard Beguin was in the Rothmans colours, while Marc Duez ran under the aegis of Prodrive BMW. Miki Biasion and Yves Loubet were expected to mount a considerable challenge in the works Lancia Delta. How did the factory Fords of Stig Blomqvist and Kalle Grundel fare? Or the up-and-coming Kenneth Eriksson (Volkswagen Golf GTi 16v)? The cameras capture the spectacular action on the tight and fast special stages.

Italian Massimo Biasion had a golden chance to clinch the World Rally Championship for Manufacturers by winning the 1987 Rally of Argentina in the fabulous Delta HF 4WD. It placed him under plenty of pressure as the field headed away from Buenos Aires. Kenneth Eriksson and Erwin Weber had Volkswagen Golf GTi cars to call upon, Argentinian Jorge Recalde could be expected to go well in a Lancia Delta, while Ingvar Carlsson's Mazda 323 4WD was back after modifications including improved cooling and the introduction of variable central differential gear. Fast and spectacular, the cameras caught plenty of entertaining action on the route to Cordoba.

Hot favourite for the eighth round of the World Rally Championship, to take place in New Zealand, was up-and-coming Swedish star Kenneth Eriksson in the Volkswagen Golf 16-valve GTI. Few of the major manufacturers undertook the long trip to Auckland, making the event one in which the talented youngster could acquire valuable points. This video follows his progress throughout the four days of the rally, which featured 36 special stages with exotic names such as Mystery Creek, French Pass and Rerewhakaaitu. The AWA Clarion event was supported by Ford through the Motogard Rallysport Team which entered a Sierra XR 4x4 for Stig Blomqvist, Lancia with Markkus Alen's Portuguese recce car in the hands of Franz Wittman, and Subaru, Mazda and Nissan, though not in factory-backed trim.

A documentary about the perennially controversial issue of the U.S. Nato Base in Iceland. After overing the historical background of the bace, the film deals with the present situation from three different viewpoints: A) The role of the base in the context of international warfare in the North Atlantic and how Iceland would be defended in case of crises; B) The social impact that the presence of these forces has had on everyday life in Iceland, especially the surrounding communities; C) The economical importance of the base in Icelandic society. The film is an objective study of the situation and its author's purpose is to inform rather than influence the viewer.

To this day, Sue Coe continues to shock and inform the art establishment with her graphic depictions of the world around her. This energetic and moving film introduces Coe’s passionate art and explores her vision and remains the only film on her work. In the tradition of Käthe Kollwitz, George Grosz, and Otto Dix, Coe’s visual journalism has a keen ideological thrust that identifies and addresses aberrations in our society. With a fierce precision Coe uncovers the base violence inherent in a range of political and social issues – from apartheid and the arms industry, to rape and gentrification. Yet, as the film reveals in a spirited exchange between the artist and young people, Coe’s work is accessible to everyone. The film features one of Coe’s most memorable works; “Woman Walks into Bar — Is Raped by Four Men on the Pool Table — While 20 Watch”. First exhibited at PPOW Gallery in 1983, this powerful and prescient painting now belongs to the Museum of Modern Art.

During the long, dry season in the south of Togo, in West Africa, a woman's day began at 1:00 a.m. with an eight-hour trek for water. Unbeknownst to her, the water so arduously collected was contaminated. Water for Tonoumassé shows the efforts of a group of villagers to get clean water by drilling a well nearby. It chronicles the success of this project in which women played a key role. To the surprise of the village men, the women were capable of making decisions, handling money, and learning the mechanics of keeping the pump in working order. We share their joy as they celebrate when water pours forth.By taking responsibility, these women have transformed daily life, both for themselves and their families. They are able to care for their children better, and have more time to grow food. This vivid example of a development project that works is an excellent resource for exploring issues relating to women's roles in developing countries.
