A famous Turkish singer who went to a concert at the Country Turkey İzmir Fair does not know that the girl he met here is actually his girlfriend's sister.

The Kotedba dance company from the impoverished Treichville section of Abidjan wins an invitation to Paris to perform at the Beaubourg Center in an international competition. The group tries desperately to raise money for the trip, but the lead dancer is held hostage by her wealthy family who objects to her participation in the troupe. The film shows the lively street life of Abidjan and the hopeful anticipation of the dance group to make their dream of a lifetime come true.

"Enigmatic as they seem, these images speak to our thought: it is the first moment, primordial vision even before the birth of the landscape where the vision freed of its mental achievements is decomposed into primordial elements. This is what the film KOMMA explores as a double comma in the German comma word, this interstage of the language that connects the words, and in coma, this between-two of the depths between sleep and death. The camera follows in fixed planes the movement of the fluids and the decomposition of the light spectrum. In this constantly changing topography appear transient forms confronting us with the feeling of ephemeral and metamorphosis. Florence Netzler.

“Double Portrait” and “I Love You” are a paired piece with Akiko Iimura. Both Iimuras play individually as well as a unit. In “Double Portrait” they are never together, but one by one in three points of view, front, side, and back, assigned to the words “I”, “You” and “He/She” respectively. The pronouns rotate with every repetition, for instance, in front view with “You”, then “He/She” and back to “I”. Often the words are destroyed acoustically making them unintelligible. “I Love You” is not a style of confession, but the words, and a linguistic practice using a sentence and shifting the pronouns.

Tentative gestures of hands and body become symbolic of opposing emotions involved in closeness to one person, trust – the need to escape. Actions merge into one continual unresolved movement.

Using relief collage animation, artist Jeannie Baker has created a beautiful short film depicting the wilderness area between the Daintree River and Bloomfield in North Queensland, as seen through the eyes of a child. As he wanders through coastal rainforest, he marvels at its ancient magnificence and, without speaking a word, ponders the future of the area.

Sophia Whist is a character on a journey of enquiry. She discovers a magic book in the Public Library - an old leather bound volume called SNAKES AND LADDERS. In its pages she meets ten women between the ages of 16 and 94, who talk about their education. Their stories are about wanting an education; wanting more from their education; fighting to extend their options, and demanding to be taught material that incorporates the experience of women.

Manipulating a variety of sources, Vasulka uses creative imaging tools to situate historical images against Southwestern landscapes of incredible beauty. Contorting the images into a variety of isomorphic forms, Vasulka creates a literal shape for these memories, developing these shapes as metaphors for the processes of fragmentation, condensation, and inversion, that inevitably contort fact into memory. While much of the raw material for the tape is drawn from World War II and its rehearsals, the Spanish Civil War and the Russian Revolution, The Art of Memory is really an extended meditation seeking to reconcile the blurry, banal photographs of historic figures with the mass destruction they helped engineer.

He refuses to return it until she can replace it with the soul of a male virgin.

In the 19th century, a soldier returning from a campaign in Manchuria is haunted by ghosts.

The story is about a man who witnesses a murder from a train, and the ensuing chase.

The providential recovery of this video, believed lost for decades, is a key piece in the imagined reconstruction of the Third Biennial, inaugurated on November 20, 1987, in Trujillo, in northern Peru. It was an unusual project, unexpectedly embraced by that traditional provincial city, which was then struggling to find its place on some contemporary cultural map. This occurred precisely when that very category was faltering, and on the fringes of a society increasingly fragmented—also from the international community—by economic mismanagement and political violence, and by the missteps of ideology.

The wisdom of hand and heart comes pouring from the presence of John Cage, caught on video by the eye of Chris Felver. Cage is at Crown Point Press in San Francisco, preparing an exhibition of his etchings. Detailing the first "happening," Cage underscores that his music is a more reflection of what is outside of himself, not within him. He reminisces about his initial encounter with the I Ching.

Generic Overview

Nimvar is a super old, big, and thriving village about eleven kilometers south of Mahallat. The Nimvar stream is eighteen kilometers long, and an old dam redirects some of the water from the Khomein river into it, which is used for farming in Nimvar and Baqerabad. Every March, the people of Nimvar, led by Mirjoy Nimvar, an experienced farmer, get together to dredge the Nimvar stream. They start by breaking the Bahrama dam. Once the dam is broken, the stream water flows out, and the villagers all start the tough job of dredging

The film is about a telephone conversation and a man´s chaotic search for Cookie Puss, on the run in Berlin. The mood shifts and the disjointed impressions of the two protagonists are shown in the coarse-grained texture and exaggerated contrasts of a documentary. The sound track, with its heaving panting, links the fragmented flow of images. Cookie Puss is conceived as a filmed live performance, shot in German sub cultural environment. In form, it closely resembles the anarchically charged British punk at the same time as it is reminiscent of American underground movies.

She returns from a trip. A different woman than the one she hired as a substitute is working in her shop. This woman took over the shop from her father 40 years ago. In her apartment, where there is nothing to remind her that she once lived there, she encounters an old man.

It's time to upgrade: In a utopian model landscape, trains loaded with tanks travel from left to right, from right to left—from west to east, from east to west. Four-year-old Nini comments on the hustle and bustle.
