Symbols of femininity and masculinity that have become glitter and trinkets are arranged, contemplated, varied, animated, recoded if not affirmed in their meaning, power. Considered to be one of the most ambitious short films made by the Spence Brothers, this stone-age alien extravaganza has everything a true sci-fi fan needs in spades. The mission is simple: aliens must capture and record living specimens from earth. However a violent earthquake forces the ship to take off whilst a giant robot, used to collect specimens, is swallowed up in the eruption. During quarry excavations in the present day the robot is re-animated, and the mission is still on.

Creatively inspired, but the puppet can’t seem to execute his ideas. After repeatedly revising, he finds himself dominated by his creation instead. A creative beginning results in an unexpected ending. The subjective “human” becomes the object.

This reimagined poem by Sándor Weöres is the story of an ordinary, grey suburban night, which is transformed by love into an exciting series of visions, a sad and dreamy vision.

It is about remembrance, a subject it treats through the chronicling of events and the development of a idiosyncratic way of seeing. The audience is given the sense of viewing these places through the filter of time and the properties of a particular mind's eye. Original scenes are used much as an Impressionist uses a landscape: visual elements are emphasized using film techniques such as animation and optical printing, and the slow rhythms and random nature of recall are evoked through sound and structure.

Time makes a reality so unreal, so colorless. The news in Time comes written and photographed in a comforting tone that treats events as inconsequential and thus encourages a notion of not just a false sense of security, but a sense that our actions are without consequence.
