27 passengers, each representing different sections of Indian society, travel together on a bus journey. People meet, move together, and talk, all as they reach their respective destinations like a line of ants moving on a wall.

Shot at Coney Island, New York's legendary amusement park, over two years from 1974-1976, this beautiful landmark of American experimental film languished in semi-obscurity for three decades after its 1980 debut. Restoration was a complex process involving algorithmic computer programming deployed to synchronise sound with images originally recorded (on monochrome Super 8mm film!) at the unusually slow rate of 18 frames per second. The result is cinema as a miraculous time-travel machine, a city-poem which transports us to hidden corners that only a true Coney-Islander would know: a native like writer, director, producer and editor Paula Gladstone. She also arranged the soundtrack, featuring music that ranges from Duke Ellington to the Drifters ("under the board-walk, down by sea...") and, most stirringly, LaBelle.

It is tinted accordingly. Any kind of film could have been made from the material. It could have been made on a completely grave scale or just full of jokes. But it is probably faithful to Rautavaara as it is."

A member of The Ramblers’ Association (now known simply as The Ramblers) and reporter Sally Jones follow a route on the map of Sundry Ancient Trackways on Dartmoor starting near Gidleigh Parish Church in West Devon on the Mariners’ Way. Trackways or green ways may date to prehistoric times and started as paths formed by people or animals. In bog areas impressions or fossilised imprints attest to the pathways having been in use for thousands of years.

From 1977 to 1980, Bernard Cadoux and Jean-Paul Lebesson regularly visited Stanislas Rodanski at the Saint Jean de Dieu hospital, where he had been staying since 1954. These conversations gave rise to a film: Horizon Perdu, whose title references Frank Capra's Lost Horizon (1937) and Shangri-La, the mythical city where the story takes place.

Produced in 1979/80 by the Valle Imagna District Library System and shot on 16 mm film, acquired by the Lombardy Region's Department of Culture, Erba d'Imagna is a delicate and realistic portrait of the people of Imagna. The most striking features of the valley's reality emerge in the old men, tough and resilient, tempered by hard work, each locked in their hard-won plot of land. The real thing, indeed. Fat pumpkins are transformed into leering monsters as unearthly little demons waft through the darkness of Halloween. Leaves curl into brittle shells and float to earth to the be raked into burial mounds. Homes are filled with the intoxicating smells of turkey and cranberries and pumpkin pie.
