A documentary about the film-maker's wife and co-worker, Peggy Lawson, who died in 1971.

The director has intertwined an old amateur film, shot about the Kosztolányi-family, with the adaptation of three short stories of the author. Just like the actors of the amateur film, the main characters of the three short stories are making desperate attempts to appear easy-going and self confident in the eyes of the world. In the hero of Key, the father who at home appears to be an unapproachable, important person, is suddenly revealed to be an insignificant and humiliated office clerk before his son. In Bathing, it is the severe, "tough guy" father who does not know himself and is therefore depressed and causes an irredeemable, tragic accident. In China Vase, the important guest invited with great reverence breaks into pieces the only treasure of the poor clerk couple with a nonchalant gesture. Yet, there is hope: after many years, the woman tells the mystically enlarged story with appropriate self-irony.

On Christmas Eve, a lonely young boy, shut out from the shiny world of presents and holiday parties, peers into a candlelit window, where a gray-haired lady sits sadly at a bare table. Taking the last bit of bread and cheese from his pocket and adding wine, they share this meager Christmas dinner together. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2012.

After being released from prison, our boy just wants to go home, run his farm and live peacefully... but the local agro-robberbaron won't let him be. Remake of Pueblerina (1949).

Lye completed his last great film a few months before his death at the age of 78. The film returned to the black-and-white techniques of Free Radicals. Lye created what he called “vibrant little images” or “zig-zags” with a sense of “zizz”. The clusters of small scratches gave the film a unique texture – the images looked rough but were in fact extremely subtle. The title Particles in Space referred to flashes of energy of the kind sometimes seen by astronauts in space. The soundtrack combined “Jumping Dance Drums” from the Bahamas with drum music by the Yoruba of Nigeria and the sounds of Lye’s metal kinetic sculptures. The opening titles demonstrated Lye’s mastery of the scratching of letters and words on film, a method imitated by other film-makers such as Stan Brakhage.

The portrait of Czesław Paczkowski, a man of unbreakable character, righteous attitude combining harmonious moral ideals with practical activity. For the last 35 years Paczkowski has been spending all his holiday leaves in Warsaw on the reconstruction and building of the capital city, in accordance with the scout pledge made in 1945 near the dead body of a fallen scout.

Marcelo is a humble taxi driver who travels the streets of Bogotá daily. On one occasion he tries to help a sick passenger, with such bad luck that the man dies. Looking for some identification¸ Marcelo opens a briefcase¸ which he finds full of money. He hesitates for a moment and decides to run away with the briefcase. The film narrates the fate of Marcelo full of guilt because of ill-gotten money.

An ambitious Colombian composer travels to New York to pursue his career and finds it difficult to survive, stay, and, obviously, practice his profession. Just as he is about to give up, he meets a famous American musician who hires him as a driver to travel around the country, encountering all kinds of adventures along the way. The gringo musician's addiction to drugs and alcohol prevents him from performing at a concert, and he is replaced by our Latin man, who triumphs loudly.

The film tells the story of a young guy who stops off in Munich in search of happiness, a steady relationship and fulfilling dreams. First he picks up two old acquaintances to go on a drinking spree through pubs and bars. The good old days of carefree life in the past are to be brought back to life for one more night. The handicap: the guy is broke. His friends generously step in. Already slightly drunk, our "hero" meets a relative whom he wants to hit up for money, but is knocked out by him in the pub's toilet. The broken lip was worth it in the end. He is a thousand marks richer. Enough to continue his drinking spree, but also enough to use the money to seek his fortune in the land of opportunity. His friends' reservations about the spontaneous venture are swept aside without further thought. Why worry? Happiness lies in the street, maybe I'll make the big bucks and (or) fall in love. At the end of the movie, we see him where we expected him to be: Munich-Riem Airport.

Chevalier de Charentes goes to Poland on a double mission.

Documentary film about the inhabitants of the village of Gager on the island of Rügen. The net and trap fishermen are a close-knit community and use the three seasons of fall, winter and spring to make ends meet for themselves and their families. In summer, many of them offer holidaymakers their vacation rooms, during which time fishing takes a back seat. With impressive pictures and original sounds, the women and men describe their experiences and compare the difficult times before and the up-and-coming times after the 1950s. The mayoress of the village of Gager and the district of Groß Zickau tells vivid stories about the "battles" within her own family and against the men of the village and the party leadership in order to achieve certain goals for the benefit of all.

Halfway between fiction and documentary, Initiation of a Shaman tells the story of Rarowe, a young Yanomami who is about to be initiated and must make contact with spirits brought by other shamans. The young man feels the effects of the initiation and always waits until the end to see if he can withstand it. The initiation itself is a rare event and occurs only when the old medicine man is about to die. The ancient rites includes the struggle of the youth with evil spirits which attempt to prevent the old witch doctor from imparting his wisdom to the young man. Hallucinogetic plants are used by the tribe to increase perception. The eerie images depicted are similar to those evoked in the books of Castaneda.
