In particular, the ways in which Greece's foreign protectors benefited from the disasters and trials of both our country and the wider Mediterranean and Balkan region are examined.

Gauri gets pregnant as a result of this intimacy, gets ill, and is hospitalized. It is here that the truth surfaces about Gauri and Prakash, as details are revealed of their past birth, in which they were lovers - Gangadhar Upadhyay, and Gauri, and Kalavati (presently Renuka). During this previous birth too, Gauri gets pregnant, gets ill, and passes away, because of Kalavati's interference. The child in her womb does not survive, and as a result Gangadhar also gets killed. In this birth, the only way Prakash can survive is after someone who loves him sacrifices their life for him.

Karen Zaitchik jumps on and off moving boxcars, throws switches, pulls brakes and uncouples freights with ease and confidence. She's a railroader for CN and that's what this 21-year-old highly individualistic woman wants out of life for the moment. This colourful short film shows how Karen manages in the traditionally male world of the railroad.

Using film footage from various sources, Kaiss al-Zubaidi creates a description of the everyday lives of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. Through skilful montage, the constant latency of conflict and violence becomes a relationship between the images. Counter-Siege was awarded one of seven ‘Main Prizes’ by the international jury at the 1979 Oberhausen Short Film Festival.

17-year-old Susanne is a gymnast and has a chance to join the national team. But now, of all times, she is having problems in training. She can't manage the new dismount from the uneven bars. At the same time, she gets into other conflict situations: her performance at school is getting worse. Her ambitious mother, accustomed to her daughter's successes, does not show the necessary understanding. Her father, divorced from Susanne's mother and constantly traveling, is rarely there for her. Her boyfriend Michael, with whom she experiences her first love, soon has to join the army and feels neglected because Susanne has too little time for him. Her coach, however, shows understanding and stands by her side in conflict situations, which she eventually overcomes - and so her success in sport returns.

In a small property in the Colombian field, the ambition of a woman against a defenseless girl transforms in death for the woman. As tradition, the funeral one is carried out in the small house. The girl, who lives alone, it is accompanied for the nearer neighbors. With a big fright for the the dead one, without light and without any communication, the night arrives. At the same time, the solitude... the girl suspects that the woman's bad intentions have not ended up.

On a winter day in 1961, 31-year-old Anna Eichmayr crosses the Grosshesseloher bridge in Munich, she suddenly stops in the middle of the bridge, opens a manhole and plunges into the depths. The film traces the young woman's life in flashbacks. It goes back to 1945.

The allotment gardens on the outskirts of the city of Zurich provide hundreds of unpropertied men and women with a home which they are unable to find in the impersonal rented blocks in which they live. The gardens represent their hobby, their freedom and their living space, which exists side by side with hard work. They cannot however own these "homes" and the film shows the chronicle of the events which took place in 1976 - 77 when construction of the Zurich wholesale market hall destroyed 150 gardens and made many people "homeless". This portrait of a group is complemented by the stories of three individuals.

The play takes place in Brussels, where Suzanne Beulemans, daughter of a wealthy brewer, is promised in marriage to Séraphin Meulemeester, son of a rival brewer. Both the young man and his father appear to be particularly motivated by the young bride's dowry. But Séraphin has a rival in the form of Albert Delpierre, a young Parisian intern at the Beulemans brewery, who is secretly in love with the young woman. Albert receives a confession from Séraphin, who tells him that he is having an affair with a worker with whom he has had a child. He promises Séraphin not to reveal anything to Suzanne, but she is informed by Isabelle, the house servant.

In the underworld of "Boca do Lixo" in São Paulo, a heterogeneous group of prostitutes turns an alley into a meeting point where customers are attracted. He helps a talented young man, Petya Gorokhov, find the right path in life, directly participating in atheist propaganda. In the work of the Komsomol committee, Kolobov promotes a creative approach to working with the youth. He wins the love and trust of the city's Komsomol members, and at the report conference, the youth elect him as the first secretary once again.

Adaptation of Zofia Nałkowska’s 1924 novel. Set in Warsaw in the early 1920s, it explores the disillusionment of Poland’s early independence years through the fates of two officers. Lt. Gondziłło, seduced by corrupt elites and a young woman, ends up arrested for fraud. Meanwhile, Col. Omski becomes fatally obsessed with Teresa, the wife of a powerful official. Their tragic romance is only a backdrop for a broader critique of a young state plagued by ambition, hypocrisy, and moral decline.

Oema Foe Sranang (1978), translated in Dutch as Vrouwen van Suriname, was a film made in close collaboration with LOSON (Landelijke Organisatie Strijd Organisatie Suriname). This anti-colonial, feminist portrait of the lives of five Surinamese women came about after the recent independence of Suriname in 1975, also shedding a light on the experience of the Surinamese migrants entering the Netherlands and the Dutch hostile attitude towards this large flow of migrants.
