Cinematic Era: 1971 Vintage

Methods for surveying and studying rock engravings in the Vallée des Merveilles, which have enabled us to define several styles corresponding to different periods of the Bronze Age. The topographical distribution of the engravings suggests an interpretation of their significance.

In 1970 Valerie Solanas was released from a mental institution, two 
years after shooting Andy Warhol. Still unstable, she moved into the 
Chelsea Hotel where she penned a death threat to Michel Auder and his
wife Viva. Using a soundtrack by Wagner, Auder surveys the handwritten
 evidence of Solanas's threat, before reciting its threatening prose
 melodramatically.

In search of happiness, a young man named Ferdinand does not flee from the countryside to the city, but in the opposite direction. He rents a room from the operators of a small gas station and discovers the scrap parts of an old airplane. From then on, he dreams of flying and enlists the help of his friend Ike. Together, they manage to get the wreck of the old biplane back into working order.

Conceived and made specifically for broadcast, these were transmitted by Scottish TV during the Edinburgh Festival. The idea of inserting them as interruptions to regular programmes was crucial and a major influence on their content. That they appeared unannounced, with no titles, was essential.. These transmissions were a surprise, a mystery. No explanations, no excuses. Reactions were various. I viewed one piece in an old gents club. The TV was permanently on but the occupants were oblivious to it, reading newspapers or dozing. When the TV began to fill with water newspapers dropped, the dozing stopped. When the piece finished normal activity was resumed. When announcing to shop assistants and engineers in a local TV shop that another was about to appear they welcomed me in. When it finished I was obliged to leave by the back door. I took these as positive reactions… – D.H.

Mózes Imre, the quality inspector of a big factory in Budapest loses his job overnight because he did not obey the director's instructions and refused some bad products of the company. When he brings the case before a court his arguments are not really appreciated. The director, however, recognises that, to a certain extent, Mózes is right and lets him re-enter as a head of a smaller operational section.

The unfortunate boy in this French movie hasn't got a reliable friend, and he needs one. His father, perhaps unhinged by the death of his wife, beats and torments him almost constantly. His older brother, instead of protecting him, keeps watch over him for the father. His best friend, a homosexual, is in love with him, but the boy is in love with the best friend's sister. When the best friend catches the two in bed together, all hell breaks loose.

During the Japanese colonial period, Jinho, a Korean student, marries Sakiko, the daughter of Japanese army colonel Fukube. When it is revealed that Jinho is Korean, Fukube assigns Jinho to a unit in North Manchuria. In response, Jinho escapes from his unit and hides in the mountains with Sakiko.

A simple story about a son returning home...

An amusingly drawn cartoon about a highly proficient lady bricklayer, graduate of Specialists' School, whose work takes her high up in the world, and her erstwhile friend, whose equally dedicated professionalism brings him lower. She builds towers of bricks while he tunnels down below ground. What develops in the story involves other unlikely characters, plausible enough in this cartoon context.
