n 1964 Robert Smithson made a sculpture called Enantiomorphic Chambers that cleverly exploited our two-eyed nature to haunting metaphysical ends. Stepping between the two chambers, the viewer sees his or her image cancelled out by precisely coordinated mirrors, accomplishing Smithson’s task of “eliminating the consciousness that regulates binary vision.” Curators Kevin Regan and Christopher Howard have teamed up to turn NURTUREart Gallery into an entantiomorphic chamber of their own devising, though with a rather different aesthetic than Smithson’s. Noticing a simple iconographic trend in which a number of contemporary practices make use of reflected images, Regan and Howard have turned this underrecognized phenomenon into a full-scale metaphysical research project, complete with its own blog to document ongoing discoveries.

Mexican feature film

Animated short that addresses social and personal issues, begins with the prison and prisoners are seen as slaves and gendarmes as the all powerful, in a celebration of the gendarmes the prison burns down and the gendarmes kill the prisoners, one manages to escape and faces the city there is a parallel between a zoo and the prison showing that it is similar, and this character releases the animals. A police chase is seen where the character runs, he enters a dead end street where they meet a bank, a church and other institutions which are compared to a jail, remaining motionless observing that any of their options are similar and it is seen that both society and the police fall on him.

"Back in the 60s my friend Duff Decker and I would swap sound tapes that we made at home from scraps of TV, radio, records, along with our own noises. Sometimes these would center on a theme but often they were simply pure sound structures. The track here is of the latter sort, a tape sent to me by Duff. It stirred me to consider setting images to it as a playful and irreverant bagatelle. I had found some commercial travel movies that were being thrown out, and I also had numerous 'outs' from my own film work. These are what I used. The sounds and pictures criss cross over one another. Duff’s sound track tape is made of oppositions and shifts that seem to have no logical sequence and my images largely do the same. Yet I tried to feel my way toward something that might achieve a meaning out of meaninglessness. An abstract flow of cohesive irrationality. A movie!
