Cinematic Era: 1964 Vintage

In The Dam, although it is an experimental film, Kristl eschews the necessary earnestness in addressing his subject. The manufactured, unambiguously humorless profundity proffered up by other German contemporaries is absent here. Laughter is allowed. Kristl takes the dreadful liberty of tomfoolery, sending up himself, the characters, the action, "tragedy," and everything else, including the audience, that might be held sacred. Within the framework of the action, we recognize a love triangle, one of the simplest of dramatic configurations. Not only the basic idea, but also numerous particulars, both in subject and style, are reminiscent of the films of Roman Polanski, which Kristl doubtless saw and holds in esteem. We meet two men: one is meant to embody the outsider, the artistic, intellectual, individualist. The other looks like the embodiment of the well-to-do man, the burgher, the functionary, the capitalist. The two battle for the favor of an indecisive and domineering girl.

The film tells the story of two lovers who portray each other as wealthy individuals. Nevin works as a secretary to support her siblings. However, she is unable to hold down a job for long. She frequently encounters difficulties with philanderers. Eventually, she begins working for Ahmet Bey, a journalist and writer. She has also seen Murat in Ahmet Bey's apartment building. The two young people are attracted to each other. However, both of them have made a mistake about the other. Nevin and Murat resort to a small lie because they think each other is wealthy. Nevin introduces herself as Ahmet Bey's daughter, and Murat as jeweler Osman Altınzade. This lie, which began as an innocent game, gradually turns into an unsolvable mystery.

The film tells the story of Sıtkı Bey, who lives a different life during the day and at night. Sıtkı Bey, who owns a typing course, is a quiet and cold man who is not interested in women. This attitude also affects his students. However, Sıtkı Bey takes on a different character at night. He does not remember what he does at night during the day. Due to his nocturnal escapades, he gains many enemies. When his escapades become known, the typing course will also be in danger.

This film had difficulties being released at the time of its production due to censorship reasons.

War has come to a small Bulgarian town. The boy Mitko befriends a wounded partisan whom he hides in his attic. When the partisan goes into the forest, Mitko and his parents go with him. So the boy, having interrupted his childhood games, becomes a full-fledged member of the partisan detachment. One day, heroically defending his wounded comrades, Mitko dies in an unequal battle with the Nazis.

"It's about This Carpenter starts out with a bearded fellow carrying a huge cross across town. He goes into the subway, through crowded streets, and passes little colored girl who asks "Are you Jesus?" Finally he installs the cross on the wall behind the chancel of a church. All the whilst he is ignored, even by the lone organist. Finally, on his return trip after his mission has been accomplished, he again passes the little colored girl and she says, "Good-bye Jesus"

Arrested for a murder he didn't commit, American adventurer Bart Lanigan is about to be deported from Finland on a freighter. Lanigan contacts Arvo Mäki, a womanizing local con man recommended to him as a man he could trust. Lanigan is in Finland to catch an American millionaire businessman, Leonard Weston alias Lawrence Walker, who has fled the USA with the company's monies and begun investing them in Finland. Looking for the mysterious L.W. character while trying to get rid of various hit men, Lanigan and Mäki travel around picturesque southern Finland, joined by a pretty night club singer Marja Salo who won't leave Lanigan alone and insists on marrying him.

The farmer Christen, his wife Änneli, their sons Resli and Christeli, and their daughter Annelisi live together harmoniously on the Liebiwyl farm. The harmony is disrupted when Christen allows himself to be persuaded by the deceitful village clerk to speculate with his ward's money. As a result, all the money is lost, and the defrauded farmer has to pay the community for the damage out of his own pocket. This angers Änneli, whose great willingness to help is thwarted by Christen, who is becoming increasingly stingy. One harsh word leads to another, and soon the couple is facing a shambles. The children also suffer from the unfriendly atmosphere at home. Only a visit to church on Pentecost and the corresponding sermon make reconciliation possible.
