Documentary film describes the motives of 3 West German families that led them to flee the Federal Republic of Germany or to move to the German Democratic Republic. To offer their children a secure future - that is the main motive for many West German parents to flee. The social security of citizens in the GDR and the willingness to welcome citizens from the Federal Republic are emphasized. The film is enlivened in its own way by the original soundtracks of the people interviewed, as well as the Cold War-style commentary. The final sentence is typical: "Since 1949 there has been a state of working people on German soil, here the lessons of the past have been learned, here is the peaceful, better Germany, the Germany that belongs to the children, to whom the future belongs".

The film depicts one working day in the lives of travelling workers in different parts of Croatia: Baranja, Slavonia, Zagorje, Kvarner and Banovina. Through interviews and by employing the so-called friendly-camera method, the director portrays these exhausted, sleepy people and their dreary daily grind. Their lives are particularly well reflected in the early morning scenes of salesmen asleep in the most peculiar places and in the most curious ways: leaning against a fence or a wall, sitting on the railway tracks.

In transit to Saigon, Jean Dartigues wants to see Nicole, whom he once knew and secretly loved. The young woman, now a widow, is a high school teacher. However, the police have just uncovered a story of arms and drug trafficking and are forbidding passengers to leave the airport. With the help of a bartender, Jean manages to get into town. At school, no Nicole, but he meets a young Vietnamese girl who offers to help him with his research. One thing leading to another, one adventure leading to another, Jean finds himself involved in the trafficking operation, first unwittingly, then of his own free will, when he realizes that Van, the young Vietnamese woman involved, is risking her own life. With the help of the girl's family and a sympathetic policeman, Jean manages to have the gang arrested, and, taking the plane back to France - very temporarily - he entrusts Van, who has become his most precious possession, to Nicole, who has finally been found and is somewhat melancholy.

The scene changes, and we see Ziegler no longer in the retirement home, but behind bars. After serving his sentence for defrauding gullible women seeking to get married, the marriage swindler Ziegler accidentally finds himself at the award ceremony. Realizing how attractive the order is to wealthy individuals who have not yet taken their place among the elite, Ziegler decides to end his dangerous and not-so-lucrative "business." He searches his address book for the names of wealthy fellow citizens and, using forged forms, informs them that they will soon be awarded an order and that they must pay 750 marks to cover the costs of the ceremony...

Prince Zhaoshutun stumbles across a gathering of magical women who can transform into peacocks, and is enamored by one in particular named Nan Ma Na Well. When a bird of prey threatens one of the peacock, he kills it using a bow and arrow. With the help of a lake goddess, the prince declares his love for Nan Ma Na Well and she agrees to marry him.

What is more: Mathias' classmates are angry because he is frequently late, goes home early and, on top of it, performs badly at school. They have to acknowledge, however; that he is very gutsy. A few days after the GDR built the Berlin Wall, West German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer commented that this was "an infamous and brutal act against our brothers and sisters in the Zone." Director Walter Heynowski digs into this ubiquitous West German expression, using footage from West German newsreels and TV programs, and compares the life of "brothers and sisters" in East and West Germany. In this propagandistic documentary, the director juxtaposes images of class hierarchy and conflict in the West, with images of a flourishing East.

Taylor Mead plays eleven roles in this entirely improvised film, as he drifts aimlessly through the ruins of a series of soon-to-be-demolished Victorian houses, sometimes appearing in drag, sometimes in blue jeans and a sweatshirt.

A Japanese folktale of the "Soba Man" and a demon without a face blends into the present when Mirico attends a party for her white boyfriend. Japanese-American Mirico is made into an object of fascination to Dom's white friends at a party, unsettling her. She meets Chuck, the host of the party and learns that she resembles a past lover. Mirico shares eerie similarities with the lover and the girl in The "Soba Man" folktale.

İskender is a young actor. He cannot turn down the request of an old friend of his who is the school’s manager and starts working there as an elocutionist. All his students are impressed by him; they bet on who will be able to make İskender fall in love with her.

The film begins at night, as parishioners holding lanterns form a series of processions, travelling through the night from Rome, and villages in the Abruzzi and Lazio regions, to make it to the Santuario della Madonna del Divino Amore, 10 miles from the capital, by morning. More than an anthropological study of ecstatic devotion – with its genuflecting disciples, and women who scream desperately at the sky – Divino Amore also speaks to Mangini’s interest in disappearing rituals and communities at risk of extinction. When generations of worshippers pour out of the church at the end of the service, formality dissolves into secular leisure, as families perched on horse carts eat plates of spaghetti and men fall asleep on the grass. The velvet-clad austerity of the church’s interior gives way to a series of pastoral tableaux.

A soldier returns from the war. As he has nowhere to stay, he moves to hell. There he is ordered by the devil to stoke the fire under the cauldrons and add coals. When he looks into the cauldron, he sees his captain, the marshal and the king sitting in it. They beg the soldier to help them to freedom. But the soldier remembers what these three had done to him on earth and seals the cauldron so tightly that the captain, marshal and king can never return. Now the soldier returns to earth reassured.

The "Concordia" trading company in Würzburg is a secret headquarters of the MID, a secret service agency of the US Army. For years, espionage, sabotage, and diversion operations originated from here in order to undermine the Socialist Republic of Germany. A favorable moment for a military attack approaches and plans are developed. These plans are placed in the hands of Major Collins, who keeps them in a safe. Hansen has worked for him for many years, but also for the Stasi as a double agent. Security Chief Colonel Rock knows there is a leak, but Hansen has passed every test thrown at him. He is trying to deal with his current assignment: acquiring the plans so they can be made public. His mission is to get them out of the safe and into the GDR without getting caught.
