Camera movement and film editing are combined to animate the ceramic figurines of John Perceval. He created his angels "more or less as symbols of the world's survival." An intangible element common to all Perceval's angels is their spirit of humanity. These ceramic sculptures are disting- uished by their beautiful modelling, and their lustrous red copper glaze with its uncanny depth and beauty. Perceval does not devote himself exclusively to ceramic sculpture; he gives equal time to painting and has won the McCaughey and Vizard-Whollohan Prizes, and shared the Wynne Prize in 1961. The film is set in the early 18th Century and involves smugglers and preventative officers. The on-shore leaders of the smugglers are a rascally lawyer and his wife who organise regular 'runs' of contraband. Richard Merivale, a wealthy young boy, whose parents are believed to have been lost at sea comes to live with them. By his efforts and with help of local children who endure many exciting adventures, the gang are brought to justice and Richard is reunited with the father.

Khodadad, who is interested in gold, is expelled from the village due to his foolishness. A group of smugglers mistake Khodadad for their boss at the capital's train station because of their resemblance. They intend to kill a man named Mansour Khan. When Khodadad meets Mansour Khan and his daughter, he warns the daughter that the idle young men surrounding her are not good friends for her. Mansour Khan approves of Khodadad's behavior and promises to go to Khodadad's hometown and ask the headman to agree to his marriage with Gold. The smugglers plant a bomb in Mansour Khan's car, and after realizing Khodadad's resemblance to their boss, they tie Khodadad's hands and feet and imprison him in the basement of a building. Khodadad frees himself and, after saving Mansour Khan, traps the smugglers for the police.

The film conjures up the mood of a variety of London scenes and events throughout the day until a sightseeing-bus tour gives the visitor a last chance to catch up by night on anything he may have missed during the day.

Sergeant Snorkle is bothered by the lack of beauty at Camp Swampy, so he sends away for a Japanese leechee tree. While the tree is being planted, Sergeant Snorkle heads for a little R&R. Private Zero destroys the tree. Fearful of what their Sergeant might do to them for wrecking his tree, Beetle, Lieutenant Cosmo and Zero buy another Japanese Leechee tree from a local Japanese restaurant and plant that. The scheme falls apart when our heroes set their jeep in reverse and wreck the new tree.
