The adventurous story of a young soldier, lance corporal Milan Pazdera, who falls in love with a beautiful young girl at a party who claims to be in the countryside on medical leave. However, it turns out that she is a dangerous spy who is trying to obtain the call lists with the help of Milan, a scribe at the military camp headquarters.

In the town of Yumoto, Asakichi, a left-arm-less gambler who had been winning at the gambling hall, was attracted by the sound of a faintly heard storyteller, Saman, and left his seat. Asakichi was fascinated by the voice of Oyasu, who sounded exactly like his wife Ochiyo, who had died three years earlier. Asakichi told Oyasu that Ochiyo had fled with him to his home town of Omigawa just before he was deposed by the samurai Shingo Inaba, but that he had put her through a lot of hardship to make her die. Oyasu's husband Tokujiro was a palace carpenter in Edo, but his skills were damaged and he came to take a cure. Asakichi heard about Oyasu's story and offered him money, and Tokujiro's arm was almost completely healed by Oyasu's nursing care.

The lawyer gets involved in a relationship with a mistress and leaves his wife, whom he blames for losing the document. Mistress is murdered and the wife's lawyer is accused of killing her. He comes back to his senses and tries to prove his wife's innocence.

John McRogers dreams about his future after spending four years in the U.S. Air Force, and is convinced by "Grogan," Technical Gremlin First Class, on why he should remain in the Air Force, rather, and what the advantages would be if he returned to civilian life.

A tree surgeon arrives in a forest to inspect a tree, specifically Woody's. He destroys Woody's bed with a drill and Woody plans to get even. First, he sticks a pan over said drill, then sticks his foot in the tree's branch and kicks the doctor in the face with it. He also inflates the doctor's stethoscope with a bellows until it explodes and holds up a sexy pin-up when the doctor x-rays the tree. Finally, Doc discovers Woody and gives chase but Woody inevitably outsmarts him knocking the doc unconscious. The pest gone, Woody can now continue his rest.

A good cast smooths over the rough spots of Les Heros sont Fatigues. The scene is the African republic of Liberia, which in this film proves to be a stopping-off point for a number of shady characters. Yves Montand plays a French ex-pilot who becomes involved in a scheme to smuggle stolen diamonds. His cohorts include a Nazi collaborator, a German refugee, and the white mistress of a prominent Liberian. A romance develops between the ex-pilot and the aforementioned mistress. Meanwhile, one of the conspirators (Curt Jurgens) has a last-minute attack of conscience, effectively queering the deal. The steamier romantic passages in Les Heros sont Fatigues had to be trimmed for American consumption.

After her mother's death, Irja, an evacuee girl, finds herself in a poor financial situation. A lock factory worker Pertti would like to marry his girlfriend Verna, but fears they don't have enough money. In a seaside town, local boys run each morning to glimpse wealthy Miyako, sparking a prank-filled rivalry with the shopgirls. Hoping to impress her idealistic crush, Miyako starts working at a daycare, and the town’s youth soon get swept into lighthearted mix-ups and new romances.

It is a simple story with a deep meaning. When the beautiful chanteuse Hung (Law Yim-hing) is forced to marry Commander Lau (Lau Hark-suen), her brother (Cheng Wai-sum) interferes but is brutally beaten to death. Hung also falls to her death when she tries to escape. The siblings are only hastily buried in a coffin home, which is haunted soon afterwards. Hung's lover Wong (Wong Chiu-mo) later sneaks into the haunted house hoping to see her for one last time; Lau, meanwhile, insists on inspecting the coffin home and the corpses to prove that ghosts do not exist…The film creates an eerie and uncanny atmosphere with its well-designed camera angles, sound and editing. The haunting looks of the two ghost characters are a nod to Hong Kong's typically told horror stories.
