June 22, 1941. The day began as usual at a museum on the western border of the Soviet Union, but in the afternoon a bloodied horseman burst into the museum courtyard. It was the commander of the guard. The museum director, his wife, the gardener, and the commander set up a makeshift barricade. Soon a fascist motorcade appeared. The museum's defenders fought fiercely and held off the enemy until rescue forces arrived.

A theatre-crowd is gathered to listen to Zaza Raja, a renowned mystic, who answers all questions regarding people's life and future. In response to a question from a young girl in the audience, the psychic goes wonder-gazing into his crystal ball and visions ancient Egypt. In search of the answer to the question, he wanders off into the tombs of the ancient Pharaohs, where many mummies held him solve the riddle of the young lady's future. But, when Zaza Raja snaps out of his spell, he finds he has forgotten the answer. He learns the theater audience is none too pleased about it.

A colorful cartoon commercial for soap flakes seems the last place that the realities of wartime life should creep in. A clothes cupboard opens to reveal a fantasy world where figures on fabric patterns come to life, and a neglected clown is shunned until he bathes in Lux Flakes. But in a last-minute coda, the clown returns to break the animated fourth wall and tell the audience that the product will not be made again till the war is over.

Policeman Haller becomes a fire policeman in Munich, in order to find back his fiancée Hilde. After a while, he really finds her, but she is still jealous because of a dancer Haller flirted with. Also, Haller suspects Wiedemann to be a competitor in his fight for Hilde's heart. Suddenly, Haller finds out that Wiedemann is a criminal and plans to rob the safe of the chemistry lab Hilde is working in. Haller wants to bust Wiedemann alone, but some things happen that make it all much more complicated.

Night club singer Nelle Hill has many suitors an escaped convict, a piano player and a newspaper man. One is killed. With musical shorts such as “Murder in Swingtime,” “Black and Tan Fantasy,” “Symphony in Black,” and “Ain’t Misbehaving.”

The 74-year-old widow, Juliane Cramer, is a very wealthy lady with an incredible appetite for life. Despite her advanced age, she rushes from one pleasure to another, from mannequin shows to boxing matches, and when her lawyer reminds her that it is time for her to write her will, she firmly rejects him. There is no urgency: "I have decided that I want to live for many more years, that's it". She is more than generous towards her nephews and nieces and their spouses. They all live in a property that belongs to her. That is why they have never paid a penny in rent. They know that, if things get tough, they can always 'borrow' a couple of hundred kroner or three from Aunt Cramer. So everything is very good - apparently...

Vénus aveugle (Blind Venus) is a 1941 French film melodrama, directed by Abel Gance, and one of the first films to be undertaken in France during the German occupation. Although the film is not set in any specified period, Gance wanted it to be seen as relevant to the contemporary situation in France. He wrote, "...La Vénus aveugle is at the crossroads of reality and legend... The heroine ... gradually sinks deeper and deeper into despair. Only when she has reached the bottom of the abyss does she encounter the smile of Providence that life reserves for those who have faith in it, and she can then go serenely back up the slope towards happiness. If I have been able to show in this film that elevated feelings are the only force that can triumph over Fate, then my efforts will not have been in vain."

The keywords for this film are comradeship and trust among the youth of a small village on the Baltic which is firmly under the control of an innkeeper, Ottokar Waschke. Waschke owns the only tugboat in town, which the town's fishermen, who make up the majority of the employed, need to transport their catch. So he forces them to sell their fish for a pittance, which Waschke then re-sells at an enormous profit. In the meantime, a big-city teacher, Helmut Grundel, comes to the village and discovers Waschke's little game. Grundel wants to form a collective, so that the fishermen can become independent from Waschke and this makes Waschke into a dangerous enemy. When the young Heini, son of a dune-patrolman, discovers that canisters of liquour are being smuggled into Pommern under Waschke's watchful eye, Waschke threatens Heini, that he'll turn his father into the police, with the baseless accusation that daddy is behind the smuggling operation.

The youngest son of poverty-stricken Old Mother Rabbit, who lives in a show in a forest, leaves home to seek his fortune in order to help his family. He soon fins himself in an amazing land where trees dance, sing and play. The baby rabbit saves the frog kind from the clutches of a hungry crane. He is given a pile of gold coins as a reward.

Upon learning that he has two months to live, a man distributes his fortune among his pensioners, over time he is still alive and has been left without a penny.

A painter has his daughter brought up by a couple of innkeepers who run an establishment on the edge of the water with the sign: Here we fish. Having grown up, she refuses to join him and prefers her adoptive parents.

The young talented composer Ole Sand and his wife, the operetta actress Alice Sand, live a very stormy marriage. Due to Ole's bohemian, restless lifestyle, it is shipwrecked. However, they can agree on one thing, the divorce. It proceeds in beautiful harmony. Alice meets the extremely elegant businessman Christoffer Martensen, whom she marries in a small idyllic village church. He casually tells his future bride that he has read that the expression Tobiasnätter dates back to the Middle Ages, and that in this way one paid tribute to one's bride by being as chaste as the prophet Tobias was in the first three days of marriage. Their marriage also remains so, one day slipping away after another, triviality is taking the life of Alice.

Two brothers, Jaya and I Pageh, are commoners who love Gusti Ayu Pandansari, the daughter of the King of Tabanan Bali. Since young, Pandansari was close to Jaya and Pageh, and romance grows in a triangular relationship. The only constraint is the social hierarchy or caste. Although Pandasari prefers Jaya, she finally marries Pageh instead, since she is led to believe that Jaya has died in exile.
