Marianne, who for her part is in love with Heinz, spins a web of deceit and intrigue, which leads to Robert taking a potshot at Heinz and then eventually causing Robert to kill himself.

A tramp falls asleep in the woods. He dreams of observing a range of insects that stand in for various human characteristics in terms of their lifestyle and morality: the flighty, vain butterfly, the obsequious, self-serving dung beetle, the ants, whose increasingly mechanized behavior leads to a militaristic society.

The well-behaved Prosper De Leeuw from Lier is a grocer and, in his spare time, a member of a choir called "Het Ruisende riet" (The Rustling Reeds). Both at meetings and rehearsals, he shows admirable dedication to the cause. The choir wins first prize in Antwerp. Everyone celebrates heartily in the café until Prosper breaks a valuable vase. He is thrown out and, without a penny in his pocket, he stumbles back to Lier. On top of that, he contracts severe pneumonia. The whole town is shocked because Prosper De Leeuw is suddenly on his deathbed. Prosper confesses everything to his wife.

Seventeen-year-old Xu Mengjiao hears troubling rumors at his private school about his mother’s mysterious identity. Cavalryman Kalle Kollola makes a fool of himself in order to get by with less service during his time in the army. Aunt Loviisa, who has come to see him, urges her witty but lazy cousin to straighten up. Aunt Loviisa also helps Miss Hilja Aro settle her differences with the horse master Kalpa.

Eusèbe Bonbonneau, a solicitor's clerk, learns one day that a candidate bearing his name runs for election as a member of parliament. In fact Frazier, a crooked businessman, has urged an accomplice to impersonate Eusèbe, in order to obtain, through this straw man, authorizations for the creation of a casino in Sanceau-les-Nains and to make big money out of it. Eusébe decides to go to Paris to investigate. In the capital he meets Mariska, an exuberant actress who encourages him to try to get elected. As a result, thanks to her the true Bonbonneau becomes a member of parliament and the crook's accomplice is arrested. But Frazier is not impressed and, changing tactics, he starts manipulating Eusèbe.

While in Bohemia, an American industrialist named Craigs goes missing. In Prague, the police have arrested a man without identification, who bears a striking resemblance to Craigs. The doctor, the secretary, and the hotel staff all claim that he is the industrialist. The man denies this claim. When he learns how harsh and despotic the man he is believed to be is, he agrees to go to London and adopts his new identity.

Sigurd, the son of a hard-hearted, feared and hated consul, cannot have the girl he loves - because her mother is a Lapp girl - so he goes as a stowaway on "Vesle Kari" to the west ice of Greenland. Here the ship sinks, and only Sigurd and another young man, Lorens, make it ashore. The two eventually get on each other's nerves so much in the desolate north that Sigurd kills Lorens in self-defense.

This short tells the story of Norwegian explorer and diplomat Fridtjof Nansen (1861-1930). After a life of adventure, he was instrumental in resettling tens of thousands of refugees and displaced persons resulting from World War I. He continued this work in 1922 after the war between Greece and Turkey. The film ends by reminding moviegoers to think of the plight of contemporary refugees caused by the fighting in Europe.

A couple lived in the mountains of Dume who were grilling charcoal. Although it was a poor life, Hyun-bo (Choi Woon-bong) was happy whenever he saw his wife (Hyun Soon-young). Her wife had a small dream to try on a pair of white rubber shoes. Her husband buys her rubber shoes by selling charcoal to the marketplace to please her wife. At that time, the forest supervisor (Jeon Taek-i) sees her beautiful Hyun Soon-young and tries to rape her. Hyeon-bo, who witnessed the scene, kills the forest supervisor with an axe. Looking at her husband's back as she was being dragged away by the police, Soon-young's long-awaited white rubber shoes were in her hands.
