The Björn family is a little odd family.

The short story focuses on two anecdotal episodes about the Prussian King Frederick II. In the first episode, the monarch meets an invalid. In the second episode, Baron Warkotsch's servant informs the king that Kappel's master is committing treason against the Prussian king, which puts Frederick's life in grave danger.

John Van Laer is the overseer of a vast rubber plantation in the Dutch East Indies. His new wife Renee joins him at the plantation, but the monotony of her existence and unbearable heat soon drive her to distraction. One of Van Laer's workmen takes advantage of the boss' absence to seduce Renee.

A lawyer's love for a young girl causes him to defend the man he thinks to be her lover. During the trial the lawyer finds out that the man is his own son.

We observe the animals in the wild. After watching the film, a series of individual observations remain in the memory, which, when placed in the right context, provide an insight into the life of the African animal world.

Edgar Anstey and Arthur Elton’s sponsored documentary on Britain’s malnutrition crisis, blending expert testimony (Julian Huxley, J. B. Orr, A. V. Hill/Gowland Hopkins) with school-meal scenes and simple charts to link low income to poor diets and argue for “protective” foods and public provision. Commissioned by the gas industry, it plays like a brisk scientific lecture-film that helped push nutrition into public debate.

A (barely) two minute short is that it was made specially for a Paramount newsreel segment on Bute and Nemeth making films in their teensy New York apartment. Paramount apparently never got round to including the filmmakers in any newsreel, but their own film survived in the Bute-Nemeth Archive. (weirdwildrealm.com) To the rhythm of music that sounds a bit like a Busby Berkeley tune, lines and circles appear against a black background. Then triangles, in groups. Black and white squares move in tandem. Sparkling forms turn in kaleidoscopic patterns. Then cubes appear, white against the background, bouncing; a yin and yang rotate a few times before the film ends with an quick burst of scattering light.

Two tramp puppies horn in on a blue ribbon show. Features two original songs by Philip A. Scheib, "Rhythm of the Rails", and a short reprise of "Five Puplets" (from the earlier cartoon of the same name). Contrast of old and new: the first scene of the puppies riding the rails was by "Connie" Rasinski, just breaking in as a full-fledged animator; the following shot of them walking the rails is by co-producer Frank Moser, who went back to the silents.

This film is a fascinating showcase for Emil Janning's theatrical play. He's a gentle school teacher who believes in his boys and is easily fooled about all things, while the other town officials want him dismissed. Curiously it's very hard to see what the film is exactly aiming for. Disaster strikes and the lax prof proves to be too far removed of the real problems of the world, on the other hand his enemies are shown in the most unsympathetic, satirical way denouncing the militaristic, bourgeois ideology of the Kaiserreich.

Participants from Rotterdam and The Hague arrive by ship in Rhenen and proceed from there to Lunteren. Various people arrive in the traditional costume of their region. At the large gatherings, Mussert and Van Geelkerken give a speech. Afterwards, there is a picnic and beer is drunk. Probably an amateur film.

A Moscow hotel waiter, found at the scene of a murder, tries to locate the real killer among a series of suspects.

An American gangster nicknamed "English Joe" has fled across the Mexican border with his gang, consisting of four men in addition to himself. The American police are after them because of a bank robbery in which they killed several of the bank's employees. But "English Joe" soon comes up with a new plan that can bring them to safety for a while and at the same time give them the opportunity for a new coup. An old engineer who has worked at a weapons factory in Mexico has traveled home to his own country to complete an epoch-making invention: the silent machine gun. The men are ordered to Denmark, where the old engineer now lives.
