This film is the pearl of his pioneer work in Madeira Island and captures the most of his methodology: good stories taking the most of Madeira's natural scenery, and provoking the audience with some ironic and "double-sense" scenes. The film tells the story of an English girl travelling with her father, a botanic, and a guide from madeira in the deep mountains of the island. The girl has some mental disturbs and is always scaring about an attack from the native man, appearing as a half-man/half-monster.

'Billy Merson, the great Nottingham-born music hall performer, presents one of his signature numbers. The film clearly captures Merson's comic brilliance - he not only sings, but dances, skips and indulges in a lot of creative business with a lyre. Merson had been making films since 1915 and Desdemonia is often cited as Britain's first sound film.' (Robin Baker, BFI)

Animation featuring Jerry the Troublesome Tyke - a cartoon dog. A cartoon curtain rises. A U.I.C. production. M/S of Sid Griffiths reading a newspaper. He folds it up and looks at his drawing board. He sees Jerry walking along with a bag of golf clubs on his back. "Hello Jerry, where are you going?" asks Sid. Jerry walks along and says "Golfing!" Sid sits back in his chair and says: "Off to the links, eh?" Jerry says: "I've got my own." Sid scratches his head. "Own what?" "Links!" Jerry holds out a cufflink. It has the initials AO and FB on either side. Sid scratches his chin. Dissolve into some sheet music. It is the song "The More We Are Together" and is the official song of the Ancient Order of Froth Blowers. (Presumably this is what AO and FB stands for). Dissolve back into shot of Sid at the drawing board. He wags a finger at Jerry. "Beware of the 19th hole!" Jerry looks puzzled. He puts his cufflink in his pocket.

A short, hand-tinted promotional film made by the D'Oyly Carte Opera company to show off the new wardrobe and set dressing for the 1926 production of The Mikado. About six scenes from The Mikado are shown, then designer Charles Rickets steps onto the stage with a final look at the costumes and the film ends. The players in the production are legendary Savoyards, well-known from recordings of the period, but this is the only time a movie camera caught them in their roles, though sadly minus the singing. About four nitrate prints of this film are known to exist; two of which are at the BFI in London.

A vaudeville sketch act set in Roman era. A servant woman dances but is sent away by Emperor Caesar, who is continuously hailed by his personal assistant. Jimmy Nervo and Teddy Knox (later of The Crazy Gang comedy team) come in to entertain the emperor by performing a slapstick comedy dance. An endless line of women, bent over the towpath of the Naviglio Grande, washing clothes one after the other.
