Cinematic Era: 1925 Vintage

Gaston Fleury's wife, Loulou, takes a perfunctory interest in music but a deeper one in a musician named Maurice. A lost film.

Lt. Milt Mulford graduates from West Point and is assigned to a cavalry outpost in the West, near an Apache reservation. One day the Apaches, tired of being cheated by a crooked Indian agent, break the reservation and Mulford is sent after them with a patrol. Unfortunately, he cracks under the pressure of his first firefight, and is thrown out of the army. His fiancé, disgusted, ends their engagement. He sets out to prove that he is not a coward and regain his fiancé's love.

A pickle salesman finds himself in the middle of a South American revolution, impersonating a rebel general and falling for the general's daughter.

Jim Wilson is separated from his wife Bella, so when his maiden Aunt Selina -- who thoroughly disapproves of divorce -- comes to visit, Wilson is compelled to locate a temporary wife. His friend, Kit Eclair, is happy to fill in, but during a party, his home is quarantined for smallpox. To complicate matters, a burglar is hiding from a cop in Wilson's home, and wacky Anne Brown is busy trying to hold a seance.

Mr. and Mrs. Randolph are newly wed, and she, being of a jealous nature, is looking for the slightest hint of infidelity in her husband. One morning, he leaves for the office early and sees a cat, which closely resembles one that lately ran away from his wife. He follows the cat and discovers that it belongs to Mrs. Bradin, a comely neighbor, with whom he briefly chats. Mrs. Randolph sees them together and suspects her husband of infidelity, soon making his life so miserable that he takes up residence at his club.

Brice, a secret service agent, seeks information regarding stolen silver which disappeared from the government in 1804. Hade and Milo seek the fortune for themselves, as do the "conches" natives of Florida since the time the money was buried. Claire, half sister of Milo, falls in love with Brice, who is captured by Milo and Hade and taken to an island where he is to be killed.

The teenage daughter of a wealthy couple is horrified to find out that her parents, who spend most of their time fighting with each other, are planning to divorce. She schemes to get them back together by pretending to fall for a dimwitted actor, hoping that her parents will unite to prevent the "romance".

A gang of crooks led by Holden steals a government code, and Cyril Gordon, a Secret Service agent who bears a strong resemblance to the gang leader, is assigned to recover the stolen documents.

Hapless pilot Billy manages to raise himself from KP duty to flying ace. He manages to wreck havoc on the German Air Force and return home a hero!

Tom loves Patsy, but she lives in the city while he is every bit the country bumpkin. When an invention of his sells, he decides to take the money and go to the city. There he will show Patsy that he can be just what he thinks she wants: a city slicker. But Patsy yearns for the simple pleasure of her country boy, Tom, and is shocked at what shows up at her door.

Joanna Manners is a flapper with a million-dollar figure, million-dollar looks, and a million dollars in cash. She falls in love with John Wilmore, a gut who hasn't got a dime nor a pot to put it in if he had a dime. There are those who object. Especially, the crowd of gold-digging gigolos and hustlers she knows.

In the Antilles, old Tyler finds a treasure map and sets sail with his ship, the Sarah Tyler, and its crew composed of only two children: Satan and Jude.

In 1871, a Chicago undercover detective gets a job as a porter in a disreputable saloon to get information on a stolen painting, which he believes will be fenced there by thieves. He soon falls in love with the saloon owner's daughter, who believes him to be just a porter. Soon his undercover work puts him and the girl in danger, from both the criminals who stole the painting and the infamous Chicago Fire of 1871.

A chaotic, night-long comedy ensues when a newlywed couple's celebration is interrupted by rowdy in-laws, a pet parrot that gets stuck inside the cooked turkey, and a series of slapstick mishaps. The turmoil is resolved when a perceived, romantic misunderstanding is revealed to be a secret surprise celebration for the husband's new contract and salary increase.

An American soldier falls in love with a French maiden but their romance is thwarted when the Yanks return home. Years later she comes to America to put on a fashion show and find her long lost lover.

A European countess, after being betrayed by her lover, goes to live in small town Middle America with her cousins and causes havoc among the rather puritanical community members.

In spite of dire predictions from her mother, Mary Brown marries Oswald Bates, an energetic young businessman. He then is forced to go to Paris alone on their wedding night. Haunted by thoughts of his neglected bride, Oswald seeks to drown his sorrow in Parisian night life.

Doctor James Leland is a successful doctor engaged to nurse Marion Nord. Working late one night he discovers his assistant stealing the supply of cocaine. The doctor is knocked unconscious and his body is dump assuming, incorrectly, that the good doctor is dead.

On their honeymoon Vivian twice finds Perry in the arms of other women. Though Perry claims he was simply catching one who slipped, Vivian decides to teach him a lesson in fidelity. She begins aggressively flirting with every man she encounters, including a Scotsman, to make Perry jealous. To get back at her, Perry stages his own death in a plane crash, but when Vivian discovers the plane crash was a hoax, she is initially even more enraged. However, after a series of further misadventures, the couple eventually reconciles.

Silent western

A cowboy and a wild horse find they have some things in common: both have enemies out to get them and both must save their mates from danger.

Cowboy Tom Gallagher, escaping from a saloon fight with Black Carter and Thug Peters, rescues Little Joey and his dog--who have been sent "parcel post" to Dorothy Manning's Bar M Ranch by her sister--from an approaching train. Tom completes the delivery and is hired by Dorothy as foreman. There he finds Carter and Peters, who have been rustling Dorothy's cattle and stealing right and left from the Bar M. Peters buys up the mortgage and then kidnaps Dorothy when Tom goes away to get the money to pay it off. Tom effects her rescue with the aid of Little Joey and Bendy Mulligan, a rheumatic old cowpuncher. The mortgage is paid off, and Bendy's accidental discovery of oil while taking a mud bath solves Dorothy's financial problems. Dorothy and Tom wed.

Eve's Secret is that she's not the elegant society woman she seems to be. In fact, Eve is an unkempt country girl who's been "transformed," Pygmalion style, by European duke Poltava.

Immediately after the October revolution, in Russia, stir unrest and propaganda against the Government of the United States. Serge Oumansky is a Communist agent trying to organize terrorist actions against the same United States.

The morning after his engagement party, wealthy young New York playboy Billy Hepburn awakens, battered and bruised, but without any memory of what happened the night before. Billy's valet then informs him that he and prize fighter Battling Burke had gotten into a brawl over Billy's fiancée, and Burke won. Determined to regain his honor, Billy goes into training, with his valet's help.

When a film star is killed in a car crash during the shooting of his latest pictures, the producers replace him with a near identical man and try to pretend he is still alive.

Gertie Jones, a female raffles posing as a maid in a fancy home in order to rifle the safe, surprises Jimmy Hartigan in the act of robbing that very safe.

Two burglars break into the home of an eccentric doctor. The doctor catches them, but offers to let them go free -- and give them a thousand dollars -- if they go to a cemetery and bring back the body of a man who he believes died of "water on the brain."

Duffy Burns returns from college in the East and discovers that his father's cattle are being systematically stolen by a band of unknown outlaws. Duffy resolves to catch the culprits, conceals his identity, and goes to work on his father's ranch.

An educational film, a movie through a microscope, in two parts. Within minutes after the egg drops in the water, fertilization occurs and contractions start. Soon, in a fertilized egg, we see the germinal disc divide into two blastomeres. Divisions continue; contractions re-occur at the cap as it covers the egg. Title cards in French tell us what to watch for. Muscular movements and circulation appear; the heart beats. In part two, we see blood circulation begin as red cells develop on the surface of the yoke. They mass toward the heart. Arteries form, blood flows. The egg hatches and blood flows to new areas.

Charley Wyckham and Jack Chesney pressure fellow student Fancourt Babberly to pose as Charley's Brazilian Aunt Donna Lucia. Their purpose is to have a chaperone for their amorous visits with Amy and Kitty, niece and ward of crusty Stephen Spettigue. Complications begin when Fancourt, in drag, becomes the love object of old Spettigue and Sir Francis Chesney.

Cigar counter girl Tessie tips off her mechanic boyfriend that a wealthy women is going to buy a car, and he leaves Tessie for Mrs. Welles.

The Great Maranelli, a stunting circus clown, falls instantly in love when he sees Dorothy Langdon, who does not think too much of him and lets him know it. He is so smitten that his works suffers to the extent that he is soon just a hobo drifting along the open road. When he again encounters Dorothy, she gets him a job as a salesman with her father's light-and-power company, and proves to be a a real "live-wire" salesman. He is then put in charge of the lighting in an amusement park being built under Dorothy's supervision, and trouble comes many directions, guided by Dorothy's cad fiancée who wants to make the stock in the project worthless so he can buy it cheaply.

Norma Keith, an industrious secretary, helps Bruce Elliot rise from obscurity to a position of increasing prominence as a criminal lawyer. Norma's devotion goes unnoticed, however, and Bruce marries a mercenary blonde schemer named Rita Thane. When Rita is accidentally killed, Bruce is convicted of murdering her on damaging circumstantial evidence. Norma then scouts around in the underworld to find evidence to set Bruce free.

Pat Winthrop becomes engaged to Bob Shelby, a southerner who owns Kentucky Boy, a horse entered in the Nassau Handicap. To save her father from going to jail, Pat later breaks her engagement to Bob and accepts the proposal of Darrell Thornton, a smooth bounder insincere in racing as in love. Bob owes Thornton money, and, the night before the handicap, Thornton attaches Kentucky Boy. Bob steals the horse from his stall, and Bob's jockey rides him to victory. The purse saves Pat's father from jail and allows Bob to repay Thornton. Pat and Bob are married.

After a lethargic dream, the general of the Tsarist army finds himself in Soviet Russia in 1927. Lost movie.

A commercial promoting products from the Koh-i-noor company, whose factory based in the Czech town of České Budějovice produces Hardtmuth pencils. A pencil draws a man and a lion, subsequently adding iron bars around the animal. The man is fighting with the lion. The cat first devours the man and then spits him out. An elephant appears - the image known from the Koh-i-noor erasing rubber - and performs some acrobatics. The rubber with the elephant erases the picture of the lion and the pencil scribbles over the man's figure.

A jungle drama about a woman who befriends a tiger.

In this two-reeler, Jimmy Jump wants to please both of his parents, but they disagree about everything. His father wants him to act more manly, although Jimmy gets his sensitivity from his mother. He wants to wed his girlfriend, and so accepts a job at his father's iron foundry, but does not excel there. Next, Jimmy goes to a tough dance-hall to impress his girl. A highlight is his parody of an Isadora Duncan dance.

A 1925 silent Western

This is a classic Japanese Ghost Story.

In a small town, the dancer Inge Maria Torselli is very popular with the theater audience. Her father is a ballet master and trained her. Lieutenant Count von Arenheim falls in love with her. But his childhood friend Harald von Bodenstein is also at her feet. The lieutenant asks the father for his daughter's hand in marriage and in order to be able to get married, he applies for his release from the military. His superiors and his mother have certain prejudices against the dancer for whom the lieutenant wants to sacrifice his career. Meanwhile, his old friend Harald tries to forget his grief that Inge didn't choose him. The lieutenant's mother sets the condition that the dancer gives up the stage forever. (Bundesarchiv)

Richard Dix, a displayer in a department store, enters a raffle and wins the so-called 'hoodoo' bad-luck automobile formerly owned by the store owner's son, a soul seemingly always in trouble with cops and women. Well, suddenly Dix begins to have the same problem, only he also gets mixed up in the life of Esther Ralston and her Aunt Edna May Oliver. Hilarious misunderstandings and undertakings become the fodder for the day!

Jack Ruby (William Fairbanks), the son of a wealthy family, pretends to be a chauffeur and goes to work for Peggy Howell (Pauline Garon), a beautiful flapper.

Bill Ruble, whose atheism earns him the dislike of his fellow townspeople, elopes with Mary Norwood. Bill is falsely accused of theft and leaves town, signing up as a deckhand on a ship sailing around the world. A baby is born to Mary in Bill's absence, and she is disowned by friend and neighbor alike. She attempts to drown herself in the river, but an old Negro rescues her. Mary returns home and finds Bill there. He has become a true believer and a member of the church during his travels, and he and Mary are happily reunited.

Toni wants to become an opera-singer. Her mother was once simple chanteuse. Toni marries the brutal industrialist Liesegang. An Italian doctor falls in love with Toni. He want's to see Liesegang dead.

Stan works in a grocery store in the middle of the mountains, buried in snow. The young woman he's in love with is falling for a fraud who pretends to be an officer. Stan has to do something! There's no time to waste!

It stars Clyde Cook working with Stan Laurel. Stan helped write this and fans of L&H will recognize the situation: a street musician in the snow. Yes, it's the set-up from BELOW ZERO. It's all about the falls in the snow here, and Clyde takes them great.
