The surviving print of Mules and Gob Talk (the original introduction is missing) begins with spectacular vistas of Yellowstone National Park and majestic herds of buffalo (“a snooty lot” in the intertitles) and ends with “wild” deer being fed by tourists and foraging in garbage cans. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive in partnership with the National Film Preservation Foundation, New Zealand Project, in 2012.

The Duke of Corannes had married the gentle Miarka, daughter of Prince Mikaël Gernovitz, the last descendant of the ancient kings of Bohemia. The prince, enamored of nature's beauty, traveled endlessly in a sumptuous caravan. After a year of unbroken happiness, Miarka learned from Militza, Prince Mikaël's sister-a kind of sorceress-that the Duke of Corannes, bewitched by a woman as strange as she was beautiful, and known by the name of Impéria, had abandoned his home forever.

The film ends with a close-up of Günther Leitz (1914-1969), the youngest son of Ernst Leitz II, then sole shareholder of the optical company Leitz in Wetzlar.

Stephen Verrill dies, leaving the deed to a valuable gold mine to his wife and child. Verrill's widow, planning to establish a company to operate the mine, sails aboard the steamer Caribee bound for New York. With the aid of Allen, the mate, Cuttle, a notorious trader, scuttles the ship on a wild coastline. As the lifeboat drifts towards a small island, it is overturned by a giant octopus, and the baby is washed ashore, the mine deed tied to her neck.

This quote from the Gospel of Luke is read out loud by one of the characters in Tam na horách. It will manifest itself in the destinies of the two protagonists, in the story of an unmarried mother from a mountain village, who becomes a great opera singer and toast of the city salons, and in the story of her seducer, a successful painter. The fate of the two lovers offers a double perspective. One of the advertising slogans for Tam na horách was “The first Czech film of international production”, which helped to rise the audience’s expectations.
